Setup

1. Transmitter Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the FS-i4 transmitter.
  2. Press the "PUSH" tab and slide the battery cover downwards to open.
  3. Insert four (4) AA batteries into the battery holder, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Slide the battery cover back into place until it clicks securely.
  5. Turn on the transmitter using the power switch. The power indicator LEDs should illuminate.

Note: The transmitter requires 6V (4 x 1.5V AA batteries). Do not use rechargeable batteries with a lower nominal voltage unless specifically designed for this voltage range.

2. Receiver Connection

Connect the FS-A6 receiver to your RC model's components (servos, ESC) according to your model's specific wiring diagram. Ensure correct polarity for all connections.

  • Connect the ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) to Channel 3 (Throttle) on the receiver.
  • Connect servos to their respective channels (e.g., Aileron to Channel 1, Elevator to Channel 2, Rudder to Channel 4).
  • Ensure the receiver is powered correctly, typically through the ESC's BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit) or a separate receiver battery. The receiver's operating voltage is 4.5V to 6.5V DC.

3. Binding Procedure (Transmitter and Receiver Pairing)

Binding is the process of linking the transmitter and receiver so they can communicate. This procedure needs to be performed only once per transmitter/receiver pair.

  1. Ensure the transmitter is turned OFF.
  2. Insert the bind plug into the B/VCC port on the FS-A6 receiver.
  3. Apply power to the receiver (e.g., connect the main battery to the ESC, or a separate receiver battery). The receiver's LED should flash rapidly, indicating it's in binding mode.
  4. While holding down the "BIND RANGE TEST" button on the FS-i4 transmitter, turn on the transmitter.
  5. The transmitter's power indicator LEDs will flash, and the receiver's LED should stop flashing and remain solid, indicating successful binding.
  6. Release the "BIND RANGE TEST" button on the transmitter.
  7. Turn off both the receiver and the transmitter.
  8. Remove the bind plug from the receiver.
  9. Turn on the transmitter first, then power on the receiver. The receiver's LED should be solid, confirming a successful connection.

Important: Always turn on the transmitter before the receiver and turn off the receiver before the transmitter to prevent loss of control.

Operating

Basic Controls

The FS-i4 transmitter provides 4 channels of control:

  • Storage: Store the radio system in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Removal: If storing the transmitter for an extended period, remove the AA batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect all cables and connectors for signs of wear or damage.
