5. Operating Instructions
The compactor pad is designed to provide a protective layer between the plate compactor and the surface being compacted, preventing damage to delicate materials like pavers, bricks, and decorative stones.
- Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface to be compacted is free of sharp debris, large stones, or other objects that could damage the pad or the underlying material.
- Compaction Technique: Operate the plate compactor as you normally would, allowing the pad to absorb impact and distribute pressure evenly across the surface.
- Monitor Pad Condition: Periodically check the pad during extended use for any signs of excessive wear or damage.
- Wet Applications: The pad can be used in conjunction with water for certain applications, such as setting pavers with polymeric sand. Ensure the pad is clean before and after such use.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the life of your compactor pad and ensure continued performance.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the pad with water and a mild detergent to remove dirt, debris, and any residue. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the pad for cuts, tears, excessive wear, or deformation. Check all mounting hardware for tightness and corrosion.
- Storage: Store the compactor pad in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, when not in use.
- Replacement: If the pad shows significant signs of wear or damage that could compromise its protective function, replace it with a genuine WEN replacement part.
