3. Safety Information

  • WARNING: Risk of electric shock. Always disconnect power before installing or removing the lamp.
  • Ensure the fixture is compatible with a 4-pin 2G11 base CFL and the specified wattage (36W).
  • Do not use with dimmers unless specifically rated for CFL dimming and the bulb is also rated for dimming. This bulb is not specified as dimmable.
  • Do not use in totally enclosed luminaires unless the lamp is specifically rated for such use. This lamp is intended for unshielded fixtures.
  • Avoid touching the glass portion of the lamp with bare hands during installation or removal. Oils from skin can reduce lamp life.
  • In case of lamp breakage, follow local guidelines for mercury cleanup. Fluorescent lamps contain a small amount of mercury.
  • Dispose of used lamps according to local regulations for fluorescent lighting.

4. Installation Instructions

  1. Turn off power: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse box controlling the fixture and switch off the power supply.
  2. Allow cooling: If replacing an existing bulb, allow it to cool completely before handling.
  3. Remove old bulb (if applicable): Carefully grasp the base of the old 4-pin CFL and pull it straight out from the socket. Do not twist the glass tubes.
  4. Insert new bulb: Align the four pins on the base of the Sylvania 20583 FT36DL/841/ECO lamp with the corresponding slots in the 2G11 socket. Gently push the lamp straight into the socket until it is firmly seated. Do not force the lamp.
  5. Restore power: Once the lamp is securely installed, restore power to the fixture from the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  6. Test: Turn on the light switch to confirm proper operation.

If the lamp does not light, ensure it is fully seated in the socket and that power has been restored.

5. Operating Instructions

The Sylvania 20583 FT36DL/841/ECO CFL operates like a standard light bulb. Once installed in a compatible fixture and power is supplied, simply use the fixture's switch to turn the light on or off. Allow a brief warm-up period for the lamp to reach full brightness, especially in cooler environments.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Ensure power is off and the lamp is cool before cleaning. Wipe the lamp with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Replacement: Replace the lamp when it reaches the end of its operational life (approximately 12,000 hours) or if it fails prematurely. Follow the installation instructions for safe replacement.
