1. Introduction and Overview

This manual provides instructions for the safe and efficient use of your Panasonic KX-TG1611 DECT Cordless Telephone. The KX-TG1611 is designed for clear communication and ease of use, featuring Caller ID with a 50-entry memory, a user-friendly interface, and a selection of ringtones. 2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Component Check

Before beginning setup, ensure all components are present in the package:

  • Cordless Handset
  • Base Unit
  • AC Power Adaptor for Base Unit
  • Telephone Line Cord
  • Rechargeable NiMH Battery (1 x NiMH)
  • Handset Cover

2.2 Battery Installation

  1. Remove the handset cover by sliding it downwards.
  2. Insert the supplied NiMH rechargeable battery into the battery compartment, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Replace the handset cover.

2.3 Base Unit Connection

  1. Connect the AC power adaptor to the base unit and then plug it into a standard electrical outlet.
  2. Connect the telephone line cord to the base unit and then to your telephone wall jack.
  3. Place the base unit on a flat, stable surface.

2.4 Initial Battery Charge

Place the handset on the base unit and allow it to charge for at least 7 hours before initial use. The charge indicator on the handset will illuminate during charging.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Making Calls

  • Dialing Manually: Lift the handset, press the TALK button, then dial the phone number.
  • From Phonebook: Press the PHONEBOOK button, navigate to the desired entry, then press TALK.
  • Redial: Press the REDIAL button, select the number, then press TALK.

3.2 Receiving Calls

When the phone rings, press the TALK button to answer the call. To end a call, press the END button or place the handset back on the base unit.

3.3 Caller ID

The telephone displays the caller's information (number and name, if available) before you answer.

  • Viewing Call Log: Press the CALL LOG button to scroll through recent incoming calls.
  • Storing Numbers: From the call log, you can save numbers to the phonebook by following the on-screen prompts. The phone can store up to 50 entries.

3.4 Phonebook Management

  • Adding an Entry: Press MENU, navigate to "Phonebook", select "Add Entry", then enter the name and number.
  • Editing an Entry: Press PHONEBOOK, select the entry, press MENU, then select "Edit".
  • Deleting an Entry: Press PHONEBOOK, select the entry, press MENU, then select "Delete".

3.5 Ringtone Selection

To change the ringtone: Press MENU, navigate to "Ringer Settings", then select "Ringtone" and choose from the available options.

3.6 Speakerphone Function

During a call, press the SPEAKER button to activate the speakerphone. Press it again to switch back to the handset earpiece.

3.7 Conference Call and Intercom

If you have multiple registered handsets, you can initiate an intercom call between them or set up a 3-way conference call (two internal handsets and one external line). Refer to the on-screen menu for specific steps to initiate these functions.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

Wipe the telephone and base unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, benzene, thinner, or any other chemical agents, as these may damage the surface. Ensure the unit is unplugged from the power outlet before cleaning.

4.2 Battery Care

  • Use only the supplied rechargeable NiMH battery.
  • If the handset will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage.
  • Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations. Do not incinerate.

4.3 Storage

Store the telephone in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
