2. Safety Guidelines

  • Read and understand all instructions before operating the lawn sweeper.
  • Always wear appropriate safety gear, including eye protection and sturdy footwear.
  • Ensure all fasteners are tightened before each use.
  • Keep children and pets away from the operating area.
  • Do not operate the sweeper on steep inclines or uneven terrain that could cause instability.
  • Never exceed the recommended towing speed for your vehicle and the sweeper.
  • Empty the mesh bag regularly to prevent overloading and maintain stability.
  • Exercise caution when adjusting brush height or performing maintenance.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present in the package before beginning assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact customer support.

  • Main Sweeper Unit (frame, brushes, wheels)
  • Mesh Collection Bag
  • Hitch Assembly Components
  • Hardware Pack (bolts, nuts, washers, pins)
  • Operating Handle/Lever

4. Assembly Instructions

The Yard Tuff Lawn Sweeper features a quick assembly design. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging and lay them out on a clean, flat surface. Compare with the package contents list.
  2. Attach Wheels: Secure the 10-inch solid poly tires to the main sweeper unit's axle using the provided hardware. Ensure they are firmly attached but can rotate freely.
  3. Assemble Hitch: Connect the universal pin-style hitch to the sweeper frame. Use the leveling spacers as needed to ensure the sweeper remains level when attached to your towing vehicle.
  4. Install Operating Handle: Attach the quick-release operating handle/lever to the sweeper frame. This handle is used for brush height adjustment and emptying the bag.
  5. Mount Mesh Bag: Secure the 14.5 cubic foot mesh collection bag to the sweeper frame. Ensure all attachment points are fastened to prevent the bag from detaching during operation.
  6. Final Check: Before first use, inspect all bolts, nuts, and pins to ensure they are securely tightened.

5. Operation

Proper operation ensures efficient debris collection and extends the life of your sweeper.

  1. Attach to Vehicle: Connect the sweeper's hitch to your ATV, UTV, or lawn tractor. Ensure the connection is secure and the sweeper is level.
  2. Adjust Brush Height: Use the anti-slip brush height adjustment lever to set the brushes to the appropriate height. For optimal sweeping, the brushes should just lightly touch the top of the debris. Adjusting too low can cause excessive wear and hinder wheel rotation.
  3. Begin Sweeping: Drive your towing vehicle at a slow, consistent speed. The sweeper has a 48-inch wide sweeping path with four 10-inch diameter brushes, providing an efficient 4-to-1 sweep ratio.
  4. Monitor Bag Capacity: Regularly check the mesh collection bag. The bag has a capacity of 14.5 cubic feet.
  5. Emptying the Bag: When the bag is full, stop the vehicle. Use the operating handle or rope to lift and dump the contents of the mesh bag.

6. Maintenance and Storage

  • Cleaning: After each use, clean the brushes and the mesh bag to remove any accumulated debris. This prevents clogging and maintains efficiency.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect all moving parts, bolts, and the mesh bag for wear or damage. Replace worn parts as necessary. Ensure all bolts remain securely fastened.
  • Lubrication: Lubricate moving parts according to manufacturer recommendations (if applicable, consult product packaging for specific details).
  • Storage: The sweeper is designed to fold up easily for compact storage. Store in a dry, protected area to prevent rust and prolong the life of the mesh bag.

7. Troubleshooting

Refer to this section for common issues and their potential solutions.

  • Issue: Wheels are not turning or are difficult to turn.
Solution: Check for debris wrapped around the axle or brushes. Ensure the brush height is not set too low, causing excessive friction with the ground. Verify that all wheel assembly components are correctly installed and not overtightened.
  • Issue: Sweeper is not collecting debris effectively.
Solution: Adjust the brush height. The brushes should lightly contact the debris, not dig into the ground. Ensure the towing speed is appropriate; too fast or too slow can reduce effectiveness. Check if the brushes are worn and need replacement.
  • Issue: Mesh bag appears damaged or stitching is coming apart.
Solution: Inspect the bag for tears or loose stitching. Avoid overfilling the bag, as this can stress the material. Handle the bag carefully when emptying. Contact customer support for replacement options if damage is significant.
  • Issue: Components feel loose or assembly falls apart during use.
Solution: Immediately stop operation. Re-examine all assembly points and ensure all bolts, nuts, and pins are securely tightened. Regular pre-operation checks are crucial.
