Operating Instructions

Loading a Bicycle

  1. Lift the bicycle onto the rack, aligning its wheels with the wheel trays.

  3. Close the clamping arm around the bicycle's downtube and tighten the securing knob until the bicycle frame is firmly held. The self-locking screws provide high security.
  4. Secure both bicycle wheels into the wheel trays using the provided straps. Ensure the straps are tight and the wheels cannot move.
  5. Before driving, gently shake the bicycle to confirm it is securely mounted and stable.

Unloading a Bicycle

  1. Release the straps securing both bicycle wheels.
  2. Loosen the securing knob on the frame clamping arm and open the arm.
  3. Carefully lift the bicycle off the rack.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the bike rack regularly with mild soap and water, especially after exposure to dirt, salt, or harsh weather conditions. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect all components for wear, damage, or corrosion. Check all bolts, nuts, and straps for tightness and integrity. Replace any worn or damaged parts immediately.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the bike rack in a dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to prolong its lifespan.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Bike rack feels unstable on roof bars. Mounting hardware not tightened sufficiently. Re-tighten all U-bolts and nuts securing the rack to the roof bars. Ensure they are firm.
Bicycle is not securely held by the clamping arm. Securing knob not tightened enough; incorrect frame positioning. Ensure the bicycle's downtube is correctly seated in the clamping mechanism and tighten the knob firmly.
Bicycle wheels are loose in trays. Wheel straps not tightened. Pull the wheel straps tightly around the wheels and secure them.
Difficulty fitting bicycle frame. Clamping arm not fully open or misaligned. Ensure the clamping arm is fully open and adjust its position if necessary to accommodate the bicycle frame.
