1. Introduction
This manual provides instructions for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of the Panasonic FY-25L64 Round Ceiling Mounted Ventilation Fan Louver. This louver is a dedicated component designed for use with compatible Panasonic ventilation fans, primarily in bathroom environments. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use, and retain it for future reference.
2. Safety Information
To ensure safe operation and prevent damage, observe the following precautions:
- Installation Environment: Do not install this ABS resin louver in locations where oil smoke is generated (e.g., kitchens with heavy cooking) or where chemicals and solvents are used. Such environments can degrade the material and affect performance or safety.
- Intended Use: This product is designed for use in bathrooms. Using it in other environments may lead to improper function or damage.
- Professional Installation: Installation should be performed by a qualified professional to ensure compliance with local electrical and building codes.
- Power Disconnection: Always ensure the power supply to the ventilation fan is disconnected before attempting any installation, maintenance, or cleaning.

4. Setup and Installation
This louver is designed for flush mounting into a round ceiling opening and features a spring-loaded detachable mechanism. Ensure the power to the ventilation unit is off before proceeding.
- Prepare the Opening: Ensure the ceiling opening for the ventilation fan is clean and correctly sized for the FY-25L64 louver.
- Connect to Fan Unit: If applicable, connect any necessary wiring or ductwork to the main ventilation fan unit according to its specific instructions. This louver is a cover, not the fan itself.
- Install the Louver:
- Gently compress the spring-loaded clips on the sides of the louver.
- Align the louver with the ceiling opening.
- Push the louver firmly into the opening until the spring clips engage and secure it in place. Ensure it sits flush with the ceiling surface.
- Verify Security: Lightly pull on the louver to confirm it is securely fastened and does not wobble.
5. Operating Instructions
The FY-25L64 louver itself does not have operational controls. Its function is passive, serving as the air intake/exhaust cover for the ventilation fan. The operation of the ventilation fan is controlled by its dedicated switch or system.
To detach the louver for maintenance:
- Disconnect Power: Ensure the power supply to the ventilation fan is turned off at the circuit breaker.
- Detach Louver: Carefully pull down on the louver. The spring-loaded clips will release, allowing the louver to be removed from the ceiling opening.
6. Maintenance
Regular cleaning of the louver is essential to maintain optimal airflow and appearance. Always disconnect power before maintenance.
- Power Off: Turn off the power to the ventilation fan at the main circuit breaker.
- Remove Louver: Detach the louver from the ceiling as described in the "Operating Instructions" section.
- Clean:
- Wipe the louver surface with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water.
- For stubborn dirt, a soft brush can be used.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water if using soap.
- Important: Do not use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or solvents, as these can damage the ABS resin material.
- Dry: Allow the louver to air dry completely before reinstallation.
- Reinstall: Reattach the louver to the ceiling opening, ensuring the spring clips engage securely.
- Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with the louver, consider the following:
- Louver Not Secure: Ensure the spring clips are fully engaged in the ceiling opening. Re-install the louver, applying even pressure.
- Reduced Airflow: If the louver appears clean, the issue might be with the ventilation fan unit itself or the ductwork. Refer to the ventilation fan's instruction manual for troubleshooting.
- Discoloration/Damage: If the louver shows signs of discoloration or damage, especially in environments with oil smoke or chemicals, it may need replacement. Ensure the installation environment is appropriate for an ABS resin louver.
