3. Setup and Installation

The ET98-LD is designed for straightforward installation. It requires connection to a K-Tech ET98 Line Loss Monitor (sold separately).

Installation Steps:

  1. Mounting Location: Select a visible location, such as a hallway, lobby, or control room, where the display can be easily seen and heard. The brushed stainless steel enclosure is designed for flush mounting.
  2. Wiring: Connect the two-wire output from the K-Tech ET98 Line Loss Monitor to the corresponding input terminals on the ET98-LD Lobby Display. Ensure proper polarity as indicated in the ET98 Line Loss Monitor's manual. The ET98-LD draws its power directly from the ET98 unit.
  3. Secure Mounting: Secure the ET98-LD unit firmly in its chosen location using appropriate fasteners.
  4. Testing: After installation, perform a test by simulating a line loss event on the phone line connected to the ET98 Line Loss Monitor. Verify that the ET98-LD's red LED flashes and the audible buzzer activates.

4. Operating Instructions

The ET98-LD operates in conjunction with the K-Tech ET98 Line Loss Monitor.

Normal Operation:

Under normal conditions, with the phone line functioning correctly, the ET98-LD Lobby Display will remain inactive (LED off, buzzer silent).

Fault Indication:

When the K-Tech ET98 Line Loss Monitor detects a phone line failure (e.g., line cut, power loss to the phone), it sends a signal to the ET98-LD. Upon receiving this signal, the ET98-LD will:

Buzzer Reset:

To silence the audible buzzer, insert the provided key into the 'BUZZER RESET' switch and turn it. The buzzer will cease, but the red flashing LED will continue to operate. This ensures that a visual alert remains active until the phone line issue is resolved.

The LED will only stop flashing once the phone line fault has been repaired and the K-Tech ET98 Line Loss Monitor no longer detects a fault.

5. Maintenance

The K-Tech ET98-LD Lobby Display is designed for minimal maintenance.
