Setup and Installation

This section provides detailed instructions for installing your Blum Tip-on unit. Ensure you have the necessary tools before beginning.

1. Preparing the Cabinet Panel

For optimal performance, the Tip-on unit requires a 10mm diameter hole bored at least 76mm deep into the cabinet panel. This is applicable for both overlay and inset applications.

3. Installing the Catch Plate

The catch plate secures the door when closed. Two types are provided: screw-on and self-adhesive.

Screw-on Catch Plate:

  1. Align the head of a screw onto the magnetic tip of the Tip-on unit.
  2. Carefully close the cabinet door to create a small indentation on the inside of the door where the screw tip touches.
  3. Pre-drill a 2.5mm pilot hole at the marked indentation.
  4. Install the screw-on catch plate using the pilot hole.

Self-adhesive Catch Plate:

  1. Remove the backing from the adhesive side of the plate.
  2. Place the plate onto the magnetic tip of the Tip-on unit with the sticky side facing the cabinet door.
  3. Close the door to adhere the catch plate to the inside of the door.
  4. Apply firm pressure to ensure strong adhesion.

4. Adjusting the Tip-on Unit

The Tip-on unit allows for adjustment of the cabinet door gap. Turn the unit left or right to achieve the desired gap.

Troubleshooting

Door Not Opening or Closing Properly:

  • Check Adjustment: Ensure the Tip-on unit is correctly adjusted. Turn the unit left or right to modify the door gap.
  • Verify Catch Plate Alignment: Confirm that the catch plate on the door aligns correctly with the Tip-on unit. Re-adjust if necessary.
  • Inspect for Obstructions: Ensure there are no objects obstructing the door's movement or the Tip-on mechanism.

Weak Magnetic Hold:

  • Clean Magnet and Plate: Dust or debris on the magnet or catch plate can reduce holding strength. Clean both surfaces.
  • Check for Damage: Inspect the magnet and catch plate for any signs of damage or wear.
