Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your electric kettle.
Daily Cleaning:
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads as they may scratch the stainless steel finish.
- Interior: Rinse the interior of the kettle with fresh water after each use.
- Filter: The mesh filter in the spout can be removed for cleaning. Rinse it under running water. If necessary, use a soft brush to remove any deposits. Reinsert the filter securely after cleaning.
Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal):
Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up inside the kettle, especially in areas with hard water. This can affect performance and taste. Descale your kettle regularly (e.g., monthly or as needed).
- Vinegar Method: Fill the kettle with 2 cups (500ml) of white vinegar. Let it stand for 15-20 minutes without heating. For heavier deposits, you can bring the vinegar to a boil and let it stand for 30 minutes.
- Rinse: Empty the vinegar and rinse the kettle thoroughly with fresh water several times.
- Boil Fresh Water: Fill the kettle with fresh water to the MAX line, bring to a boil, and discard. Repeat this step 2-3 times to remove any residual vinegar smell or taste.
- Lemon Juice Method (Alternative): As an alternative to vinegar, you can use lemon juice. Mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice with 2 cups (500ml) of water. Bring to a boil, let stand for 15-20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Caution: Never use harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or metal objects to clean the interior of the kettle, as this can damage the stainless steel surface or heating element.
