AIRCAST AirSelect Elite Walker Brace/Walking Boot Instruction Manual

Model: AC141FB02-M

Product Overview

The AIRCAST AirSelect Walker Brace/Walking Boot is designed to provide protection, comfort, and edema (swelling) control for individuals requiring lower limb immobilization. It features a durable, semi-rigid shell for support and full-shell protection, along with overlapping Duplex air cells for intermittent pneumatic compression. SoftStrike technology in the sole absorbs shock and promotes a natural gait. The boot's open-frame design ensures ventilation, and its non-marking, skid-resistant rubber tread offers traction and durability. This universal fit design allows use on either the left or right foot.

Setup and Application

  1. Prepare the Boot: Ensure all straps are unfastened and the inner liner is properly positioned within the rigid shell.
  2. Position the Foot: Place your foot gently into the boot, ensuring your heel is seated firmly at the back. The soft liner should comfortably surround your foot and lower leg.
  3. Secure the Straps: Begin by fastening the strap closest to your toes, then proceed upwards, securing each strap snugly but not overly tight. The straps should hold the boot firmly in place without causing discomfort or restricting circulation.
  4. Inflate Air Cells: Locate the inflation pump on the side of the boot. Turn the dial to the desired chamber (typically marked 1, 2, or 3 for different areas of the boot). Press the pump repeatedly until the air cells provide comfortable, firm compression around your foot and ankle.
  5. Lock Inflation: Once the desired level of inflation is achieved, turn the dial to the 'Lock' position to maintain the air pressure.

Operating the Inflation System

The AirSelect Elite features an integrated inflation system to customize fit and compression. The dial allows you to select specific air chambers for inflation and to lock the pressure.

  • Inflation: Turn the dial to the number corresponding to the chamber you wish to inflate (e.g., '1' for the front, '2' for the side, '3' for the back). Press the black pump button repeatedly until the desired compression is felt.
  • Locking Pressure: After inflating each chamber to your comfort level, turn the dial to the 'Lock' position to prevent air leakage and maintain consistent support.
  • Deflation: To release air, turn the dial to the specific chamber number you wish to deflate. Then, press the small release button located near the pump. Hold the button until the desired amount of air is released or the chamber is fully deflated.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and hygiene of your AirSelect Walker Brace.

  • Cleaning the Liner: The soft liner can be hand-washed in cold water with mild soap. Air dry thoroughly before reinserting into the boot. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
  • Cleaning the Shell: Wipe the rigid plastic shell with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the straps, buckles, and air cells for any signs of wear or damage. Discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if any damage is observed.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your AirSelect Walker Brace, consider the following:

  • Loss of Air Pressure: Ensure the inflation dial is securely in the 'Lock' position after inflation. Check for any punctures or leaks in the air cells. If a leak is suspected, contact your supplier or healthcare professional.
  • Discomfort or Rubbing: Re-adjust the straps and air pressure. Ensure the liner is smooth and free of wrinkles. If discomfort persists, consult your healthcare professional.
  • Boot Feels Loose: Re-inflate the air cells and tighten the straps as needed. Ensure the boot size is appropriate for your foot.
