4. Setup and Installation
- Identify the K1 Accessory Jack: Locate the 2-pin K1 accessory jack on your compatible two-way radio. This is typically found on the side of the radio, often protected by a rubber cover.
- Connect the Speaker Microphone: Carefully align the 2-pin K1 connector of the QHM22 Speaker Microphone with the radio's accessory jack. Insert the connector firmly until it is fully seated. Ensure a secure connection to prevent intermittent audio or transmission issues.
- Secure the Microphone: Use the 360° rotating stainless steel clip on the back of the speaker microphone to attach it securely to your lapel, collar, or other convenient location. Adjust the clip's position for optimal comfort and accessibility.
- Optional Earpiece Connection: If using a listen-only earpiece (sold separately), plug its 3.5mm connector into the miniature earphone jack located on the side of the QHM22 Speaker Microphone.

5. Operating Instructions
- Receiving Audio: Once connected, audio from your radio will be routed through the speaker microphone. Ensure the radio's volume is adjusted to a comfortable listening level.
- Transmitting (Push-To-Talk - PTT): To transmit, press and hold the large Push-To-Talk (PTT) button located on the side of the speaker microphone. Speak clearly into the microphone grille. Release the PTT button when you have finished speaking to return to receive mode.
- Using an Earpiece: If an earpiece is connected to the 3.5mm jack, audio will be directed to the earpiece for private listening. The PTT button on the speaker microphone will still function for transmission.

- Cannot Transmit (PTT not working):
- Verify the speaker microphone is correctly connected to the radio.
- Ensure the radio is powered on and in a transmit-ready state.
- If a 3.5mm earpiece is connected, some radio models or specific earpieces might disable PTT functionality on the mic. Try disconnecting the earpiece.
- Poor Audio Quality (Transmit or Receive):
- Ensure the microphone grille is not obstructed.
- Check for damage to the cable or connectors.
- Test with another compatible radio or speaker microphone if available to isolate the issue.
