1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the SAFEWELL SW-25FPN Biometric Fingerprint Security Safe. This safe is designed to provide secure storage for your valuables using advanced biometric fingerprint recognition technology and a reliable electronic keypad. Please read this manual carefully before operating the safe to ensure proper setup, usage, and maintenance. Keep this manual for future reference.

2. Safety Information

  • Emergency Keys: Always store the emergency override keys in a secure location outside the safe. Do not store them inside the safe.
  • Battery Safety: Use only the specified battery type. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. Remove batteries if the safe will not be used for an extended period.
  • Placement: Ensure the safe is placed on a stable, level surface or securely mounted to prevent tipping.
  • Children: Keep the safe and its contents out of reach of children.
  • Water Resistance: This safe is not water resistant. Do not expose it to water or high humidity.

4. Setup

4.1. Unpacking

Carefully remove the safe from its packaging. Inspect for any damage. Retain packaging materials for potential future transport or return.

4.2. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the inside of the safe door.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Insert 4 AA batteries (not included) according to the polarity indicators (+/-).
  4. Close the battery cover.
  5. Test the keypad by pressing any key; a beep should sound, indicating power.

4.3. Initial Opening and Master Code Setup

The safe is typically shipped with a factory default master code (e.g., 1-2-3-4-5-6). Refer to the label inside the battery compartment or on the safe for the exact default code.

  1. Enter the default master code on the keypad.
  2. Press the '#' or 'ENTER' key. The door should unlock.
  3. Open the safe door.
  4. While the door is open, locate the red reset button on the inside of the door.
  5. Press the reset button. The safe will beep, and the indicator light will flash.
  6. Enter your new 6-digit master code on the keypad.
  7. Press the '#' or 'ENTER' key to confirm. The safe will beep twice, indicating success.
  8. Test the new master code with the door open before closing it.

4.4. Fingerprint Registration

You can register multiple fingerprints for access.

  1. With the safe door open, press the red reset button. The indicator light will flash.
  2. Place the pad of your finger firmly on the fingerprint scanner. Hold it until you hear a beep.
  3. Lift your finger and repeat the process (usually 3-5 times) from different angles of the same finger until the safe beeps twice, indicating successful registration.
  4. To register additional fingerprints, repeat steps 1-3 for each finger.
  5. Test each registered fingerprint with the door open before closing it.

4.5. Mounting the Safe

The safe can be securely mounted to a wall or floor using the provided hardware.

  1. Choose a suitable location for mounting.
  2. Open the safe door and remove any internal shelving or mats to access the pre-drilled mounting holes.
  3. Position the safe and mark the drilling points through the holes onto the wall or floor.
  4. Drill pilot holes using an appropriate drill bit for your mounting surface.
  5. Align the safe with the drilled holes and secure it using the provided screws. Ensure the safe is firmly attached.

5. Operating the Safe

5.1. Opening with Fingerprint

  1. Place a registered finger firmly on the fingerprint scanner.
  2. If recognized, the safe will beep, and the indicator light will turn green.
  3. Turn the handle clockwise within 5 seconds to open the door.

5.2. Opening with Master Code

  1. Enter your 6-digit master code on the keypad.
  2. Press the '#' or 'ENTER' key.
  3. If the code is correct, the safe will beep, and the indicator light will turn green.
  4. Turn the handle clockwise within 5 seconds to open the door.

5.3. Opening with Emergency Key

Use the emergency key if batteries are depleted or if you forget your code/fingerprint.

  1. Locate the emergency keyhole, usually hidden behind a cover near the keypad or handle.
  2. Remove the cover.
  3. Insert the emergency key and turn it counter-clockwise.
  4. While holding the key turned, rotate the handle clockwise to open the safe.
  5. Remove the key and replace the cover after use.

5.4. Deleting Fingerprints

To delete all registered fingerprints:

  1. With the safe door open, press and hold the red reset button for approximately 5 seconds until you hear a long beep.
  2. All previously registered fingerprints are now deleted. You will need to re-register any fingerprints you wish to use.

5.5. Changing Master Code

Follow the steps in Section 4.3 to change your master code at any time.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Battery Replacement

When the batteries are low, the safe will typically indicate this with a warning light or repeated beeps during operation. Replace all 4 AA batteries promptly to avoid being locked out. Follow the steps in Section 4.2.

6.2. Cleaning

Wipe the safe's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or electronic components. Keep the fingerprint scanner clean and free of dirt or moisture for optimal performance.

6.3. Key Care

Keep emergency keys clean and dry. Do not force them into the lock if they feel stiff; a small amount of graphite lubricant can be used if necessary.
