1. Product Overview
The avedio Links 4K HDMI Audio Extractor Splitter is designed to separate the digital audio embedded in an HDMI source. It extracts audio and outputs it via optical SPDIF or L/R stereo analog audio, while passing the original video/audio signal through to the HDMI output. This allows you to connect your HDMI source to a display and simultaneously send audio to an amplifier, AV receiver, soundbar, or other sound systems.
This device supports video resolutions up to 4K@30Hz, HDMI 1.4b, HDCP 1.4, Full HD 1080P, 3D, and 36-bit deep color. It supports various audio formats including DTS-HD, Dolby-trueHD, LPCM 7.1, DTS, Dolby-AC3, and DSD.

5. Operating Modes
The HDMI Audio Extractor features a switch to select between three audio output modes:

Image: Explanation of the PASS, 2CH, and 5.1CH audio modes.
- PASS Mode: In this mode, the SPDIF and L/R output audio format depends on the TV's EDID (Extended Display Identification Data). This means the audio format will be determined by the capabilities of your connected display.
- 2CH Mode: When set to 2CH, the SPDIF and L/R output audio format is LPCM 2CH. This mode is suitable for stereo audio systems, headphones, or speakers.
- 5.1CH Mode: For 5.1 channel audio, the SPDIF output format is 5.1CH. Note: The source audio must be 5.1CH for this mode to function correctly. This mode is ideal for connecting to a 5.1 surround sound amplifier or speaker system.
Important Note:
- This HDMI sound extractor does not support ARC (Audio Return Channel) or e-ARC. If your TV is the audio source, the sound will not be extracted through the R/L and SPDIF connectors.
- When using a gaming device as an input source, the resolution is limited to 1080P in 2CH/5.1CH mode.

7. Troubleshooting
Issue 1: Item didn't work / No video signal

Image: Troubleshooting guide for no video signal.
- Check whether the power cord is supplying power normally.
- Check whether the length of the HDMI cable is less than 5m, and whether the HDMI cable is faulty.
- Check whether the resolution of the input device is higher than the 4K@30Hz supported by this product, and check whether the output device can support 4K and 1080P at the highest resolution.
- If there are no problems with the above, adjust the input device to 1080P resolution. (If the product still does not work after troubleshooting, please contact us for a replacement).
Issue 2: Doesn't work with the sound system / No audio output

Image: Troubleshooting guide for no audio output.
- PC settings: Select this product as the output device in the sound settings, and then set the audio format to 16bit 48kHz (DVD quality) in the device properties.
- TV/Blu-ray player settings: Change the audio output format to PCM 2.0 (best compatibility).
- Check product specifications: Confirm whether this product supports the format that the output device can decode (e.g., a speaker that only supports Dolby Digital cannot play DTS signals).
