Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for cooking pasta using your Fasta Pasta Microwave Cooker:

Four steps for using Fasta Pasta: Measure, Microwave, Strain, Serve

Image: A visual guide demonstrating the four easy steps: 1. Measure pasta using the cooker's lid. 2. Microwave the pasta in the cooker. 3. Strain the cooked pasta using the lid. 4. Serve the pasta.

  1. Measure Pasta: Use the built-in measuring holes on the lid to determine the desired serving size for spaghetti or other long pasta. For other pasta shapes, refer to the pasta packaging for serving size recommendations. Place the measured pasta into the cooker.

  2. Add Water: Fill the cooker with water up to the appropriate water line indicated on the side of the cooker. Ensure the pasta is fully submerged. Do not add salt or oil to the water before cooking, as this can affect the cooking process and potentially cause boil-overs.
  3. Microwave Cooking: Place the cooker (without the lid) into the microwave. Cook for the time recommended on your pasta packaging, plus an additional 3 minutes. Cooking times may vary based on microwave wattage and pasta type. For example, one serving of spaghetti typically takes 12-13 minutes.
    • Note on Al Dente: The Fasta Pasta's patented reservoir design allows water to circulate, promoting even cooking for al dente results.
    • High Altitude: For users at high altitudes, this cooker can help achieve al dente pasta more effectively than traditional stovetop methods, as it cooks before water reaches a rolling boil.
  4. Drain Water: Carefully remove the hot cooker from the microwave using oven mitts. Place the lid securely onto the cooker, aligning the draining holes. Tilt the cooker over a sink to drain the hot water.
  5. Serve: Once drained, your pasta is ready to serve. Add your favorite sauce and enjoy.

Maintenance

Troubleshooting

Pasta is not cooked to desired consistency (too hard or too soft):
Adjust microwave cooking time. Microwave wattages vary, so initial cooking times may need slight modification for your specific appliance. Add or subtract 1-2 minutes as needed for future batches.
Water boils over in the microwave:
Ensure you are not adding salt or oil to the water before cooking. These can contribute to boil-overs. Also, verify that the water level does not exceed the maximum fill line.
Cooker does not rotate on the microwave turntable:
If your microwave's turntable is too small for the cooker to rotate freely, manually rotate the cooker halfway through the cooking process to ensure even cooking.
