1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the proper use and maintenance of your Casio KL-HD1 Label Printer. The KL-HD1 is a portable label printer designed for creating clear and durable labels for various organizational needs. It features a large display for easy text input and supports multiple tape widths.

Verify that all items are present in the package before proceeding with setup.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the printer is powered off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the printer.
  3. Slide the cover in the direction indicated by the arrow to open it.
  4. Insert six (6) AA-size alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as shown inside the compartment.
  5. Replace the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

3.2 Label Tape Cassette Installation

  1. Ensure the printer is powered off.
  2. Open the tape compartment cover. This is typically located on the top or side of the printer, often released by a blue lever or button.
  3. Insert the label tape cassette firmly into the compartment with the tape facing the print head. Ensure it clicks into place.
  4. Close the tape compartment cover.

  1. Enter Text: Use the ABCD keyboard to type your desired text. The display will show the characters as you type.
  2. Navigate: Use the arrow keys (up, down, left, right) around the OK button to move the cursor.
  3. Delete Text: Press the DEL button to delete characters.
  4. Space: Press the Space button to insert a space.

4.3 Formatting Options

The KL-HD1 offers various formatting options to customize your labels. Refer to the on-screen menus for specific settings.

4.4 Printing a Label

  1. After entering and formatting your text, press the Print button (usually indicated by a printer icon).
  2. The printer will feed the tape and print your label.
  3. Once printing is complete, use the built-in cutter to cut the label from the tape roll.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Printer

5.2 Replacing Label Tape Cassettes

When the label tape runs out or you wish to change tape types/colors:

  1. Ensure the printer is powered off.
  2. Open the tape compartment cover.
  3. Remove the empty or unwanted tape cassette by gently pulling it out.
  4. Insert a new Casio label tape cassette, ensuring it is seated correctly.
  5. Close the tape compartment cover.

6. Troubleshooting
