3. Setup and Installation

The Xpelair DX100R is designed for through-the-wall installation and features "So Simple" installation elements, including quick-fit clamps and an adjustable telescopic wall tube.

3.1 Tools and Materials Required:

  • Drill and appropriate drill bits
  • Hole saw (100mm diameter)
  • Screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead)
  • Wire strippers
  • Spirit level
  • Sealant (weatherproof for external grille)
  • Measuring tape

3.2 Installation Steps:

  1. Power Disconnection: Before starting, ensure the electrical supply to the installation area is completely isolated at the consumer unit/fuse box.
  2. Hole Preparation: Mark and cut a 100mm diameter hole through the wall at the desired installation location. Ensure the location complies with local building regulations regarding proximity to water sources.
  3. Wall Tube Installation: The supplied wall kit includes a telescopic wall tube. Insert the two pieces of the tube into the prepared hole from both sides of the wall. Adjust the length by sliding them together until they fit snugly within the wall thickness.
  4. External Grille Installation: Secure the external grille to the exterior wall, ensuring it covers the end of the wall tube. Apply sealant around the edges of the grille for weatherproofing.
  5. Fan Body Mounting: Position the fan body into the interior side of the wall tube. The fan features "Quick Fit Clamps" for secure installation. These clamps engage with the wall or ceiling opening to hold the fan in place.

  7. Electrical Connection: Connect the fan to the electrical supply. The DX100R is a standard model designed to be operated by a remote switch, typically a lighting circuit. Follow the wiring diagram provided with the product packaging. Ensure all connections are secure and correctly insulated.
  8. Speed Selection: The fan has a choice of two speeds (15 or 21 litres per second). This setting is typically made during installation via an internal switch or jumper on the fan's circuit board. Refer to the specific wiring instructions for your model to select the desired speed.
  9. Fascia Attachment: Once wiring is complete and secure, attach the "twist and click" fascia to the fan body.
  10. Power Restoration: Restore power to the circuit and test the fan's operation.
