Model: UX100-003

Introduction

The HOBO UX100-003 is a compact USB data logger designed to accurately record temperature and relative humidity in indoor environments. It is suitable for monitoring conditions in various settings such as office buildings, warehouses, server rooms, and museums. This device stores over 42,000 temperature and humidity readings and features a user-replaceable battery. Data configuration and retrieval are managed through the free HOBOware software, compatible with both PC and Mac operating systems.

Setup

1. Software Installation

Before using the data logger, install the HOBOware software on your computer. This software is required for configuring the logger, launching logging sessions, and offloading recorded data. HOBOware is available as a free download for both Windows and macOS operating systems from the official HOBO website.

2. Battery Installation

The UX100-003 uses a user-replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery. Ensure the battery is correctly installed before initial use. The typical battery life is one year. Refer to the Maintenance section for detailed battery replacement instructions.

Operating Instructions

1. Deployment

Place the data logger in the desired indoor environment where temperature and humidity monitoring is required. Ensure the sensor area (vented section on the right side of the device) is not obstructed to allow for accurate readings.

2. Data Logging

Once configured and launched via HOBOware, the logger will automatically begin recording temperature and relative humidity data at the specified intervals. The LCD display will show current readings, logging status, and battery level.

3. Data Retrieval

  1. To retrieve data, connect the logger to your computer's USB port.
  2. Open the HOBOware software.
  3. Use the software to offload the recorded data. The data can then be viewed, analyzed, and exported for further use.
  4. After offloading, you can choose to stop the current logging session or reconfigure and launch a new one.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The HOBO UX100-003 is powered by one CR2032 lithium coin cell battery. When the battery indicator on the LCD display shows low power, or if the logger stops functioning, replace the battery promptly.

  1. Ensure the logger is not actively logging data. If it is, stop the logging session using HOBOware.
  2. Locate the battery compartment on the device.
  3. Carefully open the compartment and remove the old CR2032 battery.
  4. Insert a new CR2032 battery, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
  5. Close the battery compartment securely.
  6. After battery replacement, it is recommended to connect the logger to HOBOware to verify functionality and re-launch a logging session if needed.

Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the data logger with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the sensor area remains free of dust and debris for accurate readings.
