2. Safety Instructions

- Volume Knob: Rotate to adjust the audio output level.
- Off/AM/FM Band Selector: Turn this knob to power the radio off or select between AM and FM bands.
- Tuning Knob: Rotate this large knob to scan through available radio frequencies.
- Tuning Dial: Displays the current frequency for both AM and FM bands.
- Tuning LED Indicator: Illuminates when a strong signal is received, aiding in precise tuning.
- Stereo Headphone Jack: Located on the rear or side panel, for private listening.
- REC Out: Audio output for connecting to a recording device.

6. Setup
6.1 Power Connection
The Sangean WR-1CL can be powered by AC current.
- AC Power: Connect the supplied AC power cord to the AC inlet on the rear of the radio and then to a standard 120V 60Hz wall outlet.
- DC Power (Optional): The unit also supports DC-in 12V DC 1A. An appropriate DC adapter (not included) can be used.
6.2 Antenna Connection
Proper antenna setup is crucial for optimal reception.
- FM Antenna: For FM reception, connect the supplied FM wire antenna to the FM antenna terminal on the rear of the radio. Extend the wire fully and position it for best reception.
- AM Antenna: The radio has a built-in AM ferrite bar antenna. For improved AM reception, rotate the radio for the best signal.
- Antenna Selector Switch: If using an external antenna, ensure the Internal / External Antenna Selector Switch on the rear panel is set to "External". For the built-in or supplied wire antenna, set it to "Internal".
7. Operating Instructions
7.1 Powering On and Off
To power on the radio, rotate the Off/AM/FM Band Selector knob from the "Off" position to either "AM" or "FM". To power off, rotate the knob back to "Off".
7.2 Tuning to a Station
- Select the desired band (AM or FM) using the Off/AM/FM Band Selector knob.
- Slowly rotate the large Tuning knob to scan through frequencies.
- Observe the Tuning LED Indicator. It will illuminate when a strong signal is detected, helping you fine-tune to the station.
- Adjust the radio's position or the FM wire antenna for optimal reception.
7.3 Adjusting Volume
Rotate the Volume knob clockwise to increase the volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
7.4 Using Headphones
Plug standard stereo headphones into the Stereo Headphone Jack for private listening. The internal speaker will automatically mute when headphones are connected.
7.5 Recording Output (REC Out)
Connect a recording device to the REC Out port on the radio to capture audio broadcasts. Refer to your recording device's manual for specific connection and recording instructions.
8. Maintenance
8.1 Cleaning the Unit
To clean the radio, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth with a mild detergent can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the cabinet finish.
8.2 Storage
If storing the radio for an extended period, unplug it from the power source and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
