  2. Connect the two provided Wi-Fi antennas to the "WIFI" connectors on the top panel.
  3. Tighten the connectors hand-tight. Do not overtighten.

4.3. Power Connection

  1. Connect the power adapter to the power input port on the front panel (refer to Figure 3.1).
  2. Plug the power adapter into a suitable power outlet.
  3. The router will power on automatically. Wait for the status LEDs to stabilize.

4.4. Initial Access and Configuration

  1. Connect your computer to one of the LAN ports (LAN1, LAN2, or LAN3) using an Ethernet cable, or connect to the default Wi-Fi network (SSID and password are on the device label).
  2. Open a web browser and navigate to the default IP address: 192.168.1.1.
  3. Enter the default username and password. These are typically found on the device label (e.g., User/Pass: admin/admin01).
  4. Follow the on-screen setup wizard to configure your internet connection, Wi-Fi settings, and change default login credentials for security.

5. Operating the Router

This section covers basic operational aspects of the RUT950 router.

5.1. Internet Connectivity

The RUT950 primarily uses its 4G LTE modem for internet access. Ensure your SIM card is active and has a data plan. The router will automatically attempt to connect to the cellular network. You can monitor the connection status and signal strength via the router's web interface.

The WAN Ethernet port allows for a wired internet connection as a primary or backup source. Configure this in the router's web interface under Network settings.

5.2. Automatic Backup Connection (Failover)

The RUT950 supports automatic failover, allowing it to switch to an available backup connection if the primary connection fails. This can be configured between cellular (dual SIM), wired WAN, or Wi-Fi as WAN. Refer to the router's web interface documentation for detailed failover configuration.

5.3. Wireless Access Point and Hotspot

The router functions as a Wi-Fi Access Point, broadcasting a wireless network for devices to connect. You can configure the Wi-Fi SSID, password, and security settings through the web interface. Hotspot functionality allows for captive portal solutions and user management.

5.4. Remote Management System (RMS)

The Teltonika RUT950 is compatible with the Teltonika Networks Remote Management System (RMS). RMS provides a centralized platform for monitoring, configuring, and managing your routers remotely. For details on RMS integration, consult the official Teltonika Networks documentation.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and security of your RUT950 router.

6.1. Firmware Updates

Teltonika Networks regularly releases firmware updates (RutOS) to improve performance, add features, and address security vulnerabilities. It is recommended to keep your router's firmware updated. You can check for and install updates via the router's web interface under System > Firmware.

  • Download the latest firmware from the official Teltonika Networks website.
  • Access the router's web interface.
  • Navigate to the firmware update section and upload the downloaded file.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions. Do not power off the device during the update process.

6.2. Factory Reset

A factory reset can resolve certain configuration issues or be used to clear all settings. To perform a factory reset:

  1. With the router powered on, locate the reset button (refer to Figure 3.2).
  2. Use a thin, pointed object (e.g., a paperclip) to press and hold the reset button for approximately 10 seconds.
  3. Release the button when the status LEDs begin to flash rapidly.
  4. The router will reboot with factory default settings.

7. Troubleshooting

This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter.

7.1. No Internet Connection

  • Check SIM Card: Ensure the SIM card is correctly inserted and active with a data plan.
  • Signal Strength: Verify the mobile signal strength LEDs. If low, try repositioning the router or external antennas.
  • APN Settings: Confirm that the Access Point Name (APN) settings in the router's web interface match those provided by your mobile operator.
  • WAN Connection: If using a wired WAN, ensure the cable is connected and the upstream device (modem/router) is functioning.
  • Reboot: Power cycle the router by disconnecting and reconnecting the power adapter.

7.2. Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues

  • Wi-Fi Enabled: Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled in the router's web interface.
  • Correct Password: Verify you are entering the correct Wi-Fi password.
  • Antennas: Ensure Wi-Fi antennas are securely connected.
  • Interference: Try changing the Wi-Fi channel in the router settings to avoid interference from other networks.

7.3. Cannot Access Web Interface

  • IP Address: Confirm you are using the correct IP address (192.168.1.1 by default).
  • Ethernet Connection: Ensure your computer is directly connected to a LAN port or correctly connected to the Wi-Fi network.
  • IP Settings: Verify your computer's network adapter is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).
  • Firewall: Temporarily disable any firewall software on your computer that might be blocking access.
