3.3 Using the Tripod Collar
Due to the lens's size and weight, using the included tripod collar is recommended for stable shooting, especially on a tripod or monopod. The collar allows for rotation of the camera without detaching the lens.
- The tripod collar is pre-attached. To adjust its position, loosen the locking knob on the side of the collar.
- Rotate the lens within the collar to switch between horizontal and vertical orientations.
- Tighten the locking knob firmly once the desired orientation is achieved.
- The tripod collar can be removed by loosening the knob and pulling it off the lens barrel. A protective rubber ring is provided to cover the attachment point if the collar is removed.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Zooming
The lens features a zoom ring to adjust the focal length from 150mm to 600mm. Rotate the zoom ring to achieve your desired magnification.
- Zoom Lock Switch: This switch allows you to lock the zoom ring at any marked focal length (150mm, 200mm, 300mm, 400mm, 500mm, 600mm) to prevent zoom creep, especially when carrying the lens. To lock, slide the switch to the "LOCK" position when the lens is at the desired focal length. To unlock, slide it back.

4.2 Focusing
The lens supports both autofocus (AF) and manual focus (MF).
- AF/MF Switch: Set this switch to "AF" for autofocus operation or "MF" for manual focus. In MF mode, rotate the focus ring to adjust focus.
- Focus Limiter Switch: This switch allows you to restrict the autofocus range, which can improve autofocus speed when shooting subjects within a known distance range.
- FULL: Allows autofocus across the entire focusing range (minimum focusing distance to infinity).
- 3m - 10m: Limits autofocus to subjects between 3 meters (approx. 9.8 feet) and 10 meters (approx. 32.8 feet).
- 10m - ∞: Limits autofocus to subjects from 10 meters (approx. 32.8 feet) to infinity.
4.3 Optical Stabilizer (OS)
The Optical Stabilizer (OS) function compensates for camera shake, allowing for sharper images, especially at slower shutter speeds or longer focal lengths.
- OS Switch:
- OFF: Disables the Optical Stabilizer.
- MODE 1: General-purpose stabilization, effective for various shooting situations.
- MODE 2: Ideal for panning shots, as it compensates for vertical camera shake while allowing horizontal movement.
- It is recommended to turn off the OS function when using the lens on a tripod or when shooting with very fast shutter speeds, as it can sometimes introduce slight blur in these situations.
4.4 Custom Switches (C1/C2)
The lens features two custom modes (C1 and C2) that can be configured using the optional Sigma USB Dock (sold separately). These modes allow you to customize autofocus speed, OS effect, and focus limiter range to suit specific shooting styles or conditions.

5. Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your lens.
- Cleaning the Lens Elements: Use a soft, clean microfiber cloth specifically designed for optical surfaces. For stubborn smudges, use a small amount of lens cleaning fluid applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens. The front element features a water and oil repellent coating, making it easier to wipe away fingerprints and smudges.
- Cleaning the Lens Body: Wipe the lens body with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use, store the lens with both front and rear caps attached, preferably in its soft case, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid storing in areas with high humidity to prevent mold growth.
- Avoid Impact: Protect the lens from drops and impacts, which can damage internal components.
