4. Setup and Installation
The Smartwares HA701IP system is designed for straightforward installation due to its wireless nature. Follow these guidelines for optimal setup:
4.1 Planning Your Security Zones
Before installing any components, assess your property for potential intrusion points. Identify main entryways, windows, and areas containing valuable items. This evaluation will help determine the optimal placement and number of infrared motion detectors and magnetic contacts. Consider if an external siren is necessary for your setup.
While the system supports up to 100 accessories across 30 zones, it is not always necessary to protect every room. Focus on primary access points, areas where intrusion is most probable, and corridors or rooms that must be passed through to access other parts of the property.
4.2 Central Unit Installation
The central unit should be mounted in a secure, central location within your property, away from direct sunlight and sources of interference. Ensure it has access to a power outlet and an Ethernet connection for internet access.

Connect the power adapter to the central unit and plug it into a wall outlet. Connect the Ethernet cable from the central unit to your router. The central unit is designed for wall mounting; use the provided kit for secure installation.
4.3 Sensor Placement
The motion detector and magnetic contact are pre-programmed for quick setup. They can be easily moved if you need to adjust their position for better performance.
- Motion Detector: Install motion detectors in areas where an intruder would likely pass. Avoid placing them directly facing heat sources or windows where sunlight or moving curtains could trigger false alarms. When the motion detector's cover is closed, it enters a battery-saving mode, deactivating for approximately 1 minute after each detection.
- Magnetic Contact: Install magnetic contacts on doors and windows. Ensure the two parts of the contact are aligned and within the specified gap when the door/window is closed.

4.4 System Registration and Configuration
To configure your alarm system, you will need to register an account on the Smartwares website. Configuration is performed online via a web interface or through the dedicated smartphone application (available for Android and iOS). An internet connection is required for initial setup and configuration changes.
The system allows for two partial arming modes, enabling you to select specific sensors to be active while others are disarmed, useful for securing unoccupied areas like a garage or ground floor while you are home.
5. Operating the System
The Smartwares HA701IP system can be operated using the included remote control or through the smartphone application.
5.1 Arming and Disarming
- Full Arm: Activates all configured sensors. Use this mode when leaving your property.
- Partial Arm: Activates selected sensors (e.g., perimeter sensors) while allowing movement within other areas. Configure these zones via the smartphone app or web interface.
- Disarm: Deactivates all sensors.
Press the corresponding button on the remote control or select the desired mode in the smartphone application. The system provides visual and/or audible feedback to confirm the mode change.
5.2 Alarm Notifications
In the event of an alarm, the central unit's siren will activate (95dB). You will also receive notifications via the smartphone application (push notifications) and/or email, as configured during setup. These notifications will indicate which sensor triggered the alarm.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Battery Replacement
- Central Unit: The central unit uses 6 AA 1.5V batteries for backup power. Replace these batteries periodically or when the system indicates low battery status.
- Sensors: Motion detectors and magnetic contacts are battery-powered. Replace batteries when the system indicates a low battery status for a specific sensor. Refer to the individual sensor's instructions for battery type and replacement procedure.
- Remote Control: The remote control uses a button cell battery. To replace it, carefully open the remote control casing.
Always use new, high-quality batteries of the specified type. Dispose of old batteries according to local regulations.
6.2 System Reset
In case of system malfunction or for a complete reset, locate the 'RESET' button on the central unit. Press and hold this button as per the instructions in the app or web interface for a factory reset. Note that a reset will erase all custom configurations.

7. Troubleshooting
- System Not Responding:
- Check power connection to the central unit.
- Verify internet connection (Ethernet cable, router status).
- Ensure backup batteries in the central unit are charged and correctly installed.
- Sensor Not Triggering / False Alarms:
- Check sensor battery levels.
- For magnetic contacts, ensure proper alignment and gap between the two parts.
- For motion detectors, ensure there are no obstructions, heat sources, or moving objects (like pets or curtains) that could cause false triggers. Adjust placement if necessary.
- Verify the sensor is correctly paired with the central unit via the app.
- No Notifications on Smartphone:
- Check your smartphone's internet connection.
- Ensure push notifications are enabled for the Smartwares app in your phone's settings.
- Verify email notification settings in the Smartwares app/web interface.
- Remote Control Not Working:
- Replace the remote control battery.
- Ensure you are within range of the central unit.
