- Place the motor head onto the stainless steel container, ensuring it is properly seated and the latches are secured.
4.2 Hose and Accessory Connection
- Connect the flexible vacuum hose to the suction inlet on the front of the motor head. Twist until it clicks into place.
- Assemble the extension wand sections and attach the desired nozzle (e.g., floor nozzle) to the end of the wand.
- Connect the other end of the hose to the assembled wand.
4.3 Filter Installation
The Nilfisk Aero 31 comes with a certified HEPA filter suitable for both wet and dry applications. Ensure the filter is correctly installed before use.
- Remove the motor head from the container.
- Verify that the HEPA cartridge filter is securely seated in its housing under the motor head. Refer to the filter replacement section for detailed instructions if re-installing.
- For dry vacuuming, a dust bag can be installed inside the container for easier disposal of dry debris. This is optional but recommended for fine dust.
- For wet vacuuming, ensure no dust bag is present. The HEPA filter is designed to handle wet debris without damage.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Dry Vacuuming
- Ensure the HEPA filter is clean and properly installed. An optional dust bag can be used for dry debris.
- Connect the vacuum cleaner to a suitable power outlet.
- Turn the main power switch to the "ON" position.
- Begin vacuuming the desired area.
- When finished, turn the power switch to "OFF" and unplug the unit.
5.2 Wet Vacuuming
Important: Remove any dust bags before wet vacuuming. The HEPA filter is suitable for wet use.
- Ensure the container is empty and clean.
- Connect the vacuum cleaner to a suitable power outlet.
- Turn the main power switch to the "ON" position.
- Begin vacuuming liquids. The vacuum is equipped with a float valve that will automatically shut off suction when the container is full.
- When the float valve activates, turn the vacuum "OFF" immediately, unplug, and empty the container.
5.3 Tool Start Function
The Aero 31 features a power outlet on the motor head for connecting power tools, allowing the vacuum to start and stop automatically with the tool.
- Plug your power tool into the integrated power outlet on the vacuum cleaner's motor head.
- Connect the vacuum hose to the dust extraction port of your power tool.
- Turn the vacuum cleaner's main switch to the "Tool Start" position (often indicated by a tool icon).
- When you activate your power tool, the vacuum will automatically start. When you turn off the power tool, the vacuum will continue to run for a few seconds to clear the hose, then shut off.
5.4 Blower Function
To use the vacuum as a blower:
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from the suction inlet.
- Connect the vacuum hose to the blower port, typically located on the rear of the motor head.
- Turn the main power switch to the "ON" position.
- Direct the hose to blow away debris.
5.5 Push & Clean Filter Cleaning System
The Push & Clean system helps maintain optimal suction by clearing dust from the filter. Use this function when you notice a decrease in suction power during dry vacuuming.
- While the vacuum is running (in dry mode), block the end of the hose with your hand or a suitable cap.
- Press and hold the "Push & Clean" button (often a large button on the motor head) for a few seconds. You will hear a change in the motor sound as air is reversed through the filter.
- Release the button. Repeat this process a few times if necessary until suction power is restored.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your vacuum cleaner. Always unplug the unit before performing any maintenance.
6.1 Filter Care and Replacement
The HEPA filter is crucial for maintaining air quality and vacuum performance. While the Push & Clean system helps, periodic manual cleaning and eventual replacement are necessary.
- To Remove Filter: Unlatch and remove the motor head. Carefully twist or pull the filter cartridge from its housing.
- To Clean Filter: For dry dust, gently tap the filter against a hard surface to dislodge debris. For more thorough cleaning, rinse the filter under cool running water. Allow the filter to air dry completely (24-48 hours) before re-installing. Never use a wet filter for dry vacuuming.
- To Replace Filter: Insert a new or thoroughly dried filter into the housing, ensuring it is seated correctly.
- Replace the HEPA filter approximately every 6-12 months, or more frequently with heavy use or if damage is observed.
6.2 Container Cleaning
- After wet vacuuming, empty the liquid from the container.
- Rinse the inside of the stainless steel container with water and wipe it dry to prevent odors and corrosion.
6.3 Hose and Accessory Care
- Inspect the hose and accessories regularly for blockages, cracks, or damage. Clear any blockages immediately.
- Wipe down accessories with a damp cloth as needed.
6.4 Storage
Store the vacuum cleaner in a dry, clean area, away from extreme temperatures. Wrap the power cord neatly and store accessories on the integrated holders if available.
