Smart Games Roadblock Puzzle Game Instruction Manual

Model: SG 250

1. Introduction to Roadblock

The Smart Games Roadblock is a single-player logic puzzle game designed to challenge problem-solving skills. In this game, you assume the role of a chief inspector tasked with blocking the escape of a fugitive in a red sports car. The game features 80 challenges, each requiring strategic placement of police cars and road blocks to prevent the red car from exiting the game board.

The objective is to coordinate your police officers and their patrol cars to create a blockade, ensuring the suspect's red car has no possible escape route. Each challenge presents a unique scenario and requires careful planning and spatial reasoning to solve. Follow the instructions in the challenge booklet to meet each challenge.

2. Game Components

Before starting, ensure all components are present. The Smart Games Roadblock includes the following:

  • 1 Game Board with integrated storage
  • 1 Red Car (fugitive's car)
  • 4 Police Cars
  • 6 Building Pieces (various shapes)
  • 4 Road Block Pieces (grey puzzle pieces)
  • 1 Challenge Booklet with 80 challenges and solutions

  2. Place the red car on the game board exactly as shown in the chosen challenge.
  3. Place the building pieces on the game board as indicated in the challenge. These buildings are fixed and cannot be moved during play.
  4. Place the police cars on the game board as indicated in the challenge. These are your starting positions.
  5. Ensure the game board matches the setup diagram in the booklet before proceeding.

4. Operating (How to Play)

The goal of Roadblock is to strategically place the police cars and road block pieces on the game board to prevent the red car from moving off the board.

  • Movement: The police cars can be moved around the board. They can slide horizontally or vertically, but cannot jump over other cars or buildings.
  • Road Blocks: The grey road block pieces are used to fill empty spaces on the board, creating barriers. Once a road block piece is placed, it cannot be moved.
  • Blocking the Red Car: The red car must be completely surrounded by police cars, road blocks, or buildings so that it has no clear path to any of the four exit points on the board's edge.
  • Solving a Challenge: A challenge is solved when the red car is successfully blocked and cannot move in any direction to exit the board. Each challenge has only one correct solution, which can be found at the back of the Challenge Booklet.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity of your Smart Games Roadblock puzzle game, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe game pieces and the board with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the plastic and printed surfaces.
  • Storage: Store all game components in their original box when not in use. Keep the game in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, to prevent warping or fading.
  • Handling: Handle game pieces gently to prevent breakage or loss.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter difficulties while playing, consider the following:

  • Difficulty Solving a Challenge:
    • Double-check your initial setup against the challenge diagram in the booklet. Even a small misplacement can alter the solution.
    • Review the rules of movement and placement for police cars and road blocks.
    • Take a break and return to the challenge with a fresh perspective.
    • Consult the solution provided at the back of the Challenge Booklet if you are completely stuck. Try to understand the logic behind the solution rather than just copying it.
  • Missing or Damaged Pieces:
    • Carefully check the game box and surrounding area for any misplaced pieces.
    • If a piece is genuinely missing or damaged, please contact SmartGames customer support for assistance.
