3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Unpacking

3.2 Physical Installation

The Smart-UPS SRT 5000VA is a 3U rack-mountable unit. Install it in a standard 19-inch equipment rack using the provided rack-mounting hardware. Ensure the rack can support the UPS's weight of approximately 123 pounds (55.8 kg).

3.3 Electrical Connections

Connect the UPS to a dedicated 208 V AC power source. Ensure the circuit breaker rating is sufficient for the UPS's maximum load.

Connect your equipment to the output receptacles on the rear of the UPS. This model includes two NEMA L6-20R and two NEMA L6-30R receptacles.

3.4 Initial Power-Up

1. After all connections are secure, press the power button on the front panel to turn on the UPS.
2. The UPS will perform a self-test. The display will show status information.
3. Allow the batteries to charge for at least 1.5 hours before connecting critical loads, although the UPS will provide power immediately.

4. Operation

4.1 Front Panel Display and Controls

4.2 Power On/Off

• To turn on the UPS: Press and hold the power button until the display illuminates.
• To turn off the UPS: Press and hold the power button until the display indicates shutdown.

4.3 Battery Operation

In the event of a power outage, the UPS will automatically switch to battery power, providing continuous power to connected equipment. The duration of battery backup depends on the connected load. The typical battery recharge time is 1.5 hours.

Monitor the load percentage on the front panel display to ensure you do not overload the UPS. The maximum load capacity is 5000 VA / 4250 W.
