Installation and Setup

This section outlines the general steps for installing your subwoofers into the Atrend Bbox enclosure. Ensure you have all necessary tools and components before proceeding.

1. Preparing the Subwoofers

  • Ensure your 10-inch subwoofers are compatible with the enclosure's mounting depth and cutout diameter.
  • Prepare your speaker wire by stripping the ends. For a secure connection, it is recommended to use crimp-on ring terminals or spade connectors for the internal wiring.

2. Internal Wiring

  • Connect the prepared speaker wires to the internal terminals of the enclosure. Ensure positive (+) and negative (-) connections are correctly matched.
  • Feed the other end of the speaker wires through the subwoofer cutout holes.

3. Mounting Subwoofers

  • Carefully place each subwoofer into its respective cutout in the enclosure.
  • Align the mounting holes of the subwoofer with the pre-drilled holes in the enclosure.
  • Secure the subwoofers using appropriate wood screws. Avoid overtightening to prevent damage to the subwoofer frame or enclosure.

4. External Wiring (to Amplifier)

The enclosure features nickel finish terminals for connecting to your amplifier. For dual subwoofers, common wiring configurations include parallel or series wiring to achieve the desired impedance load for your amplifier. Consult your amplifier's manual for recommended impedance and wiring diagrams.

Example: Dual 4-ohm Subwoofers to 2-ohm Load

If you are using two single 4-ohm subwoofers and your amplifier supports a 2-ohm load, you can wire them in parallel. This involves connecting the positive (+) terminal of each subwoofer to the positive (+) terminal of the amplifier, and the negative (-) terminal of each subwoofer to the negative (-) terminal of the amplifier.

5. Securing the Enclosure

To prevent the enclosure from sliding in your vehicle's trunk or cargo area, consider using Velcro strips on the bottom of the enclosure. The hook side of the Velcro can grip the carpet, providing a stable placement.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, connect your amplifier to the vehicle's power source and audio unit according to your amplifier's instructions. Power on your audio system and gradually increase the volume to test the subwoofer's performance. Adjust amplifier settings (gain, crossover, bass boost) for optimal sound quality and to prevent distortion or damage to your subwoofers.

Maintenance

  • Regularly inspect all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
  • Keep the enclosure clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid placing heavy objects on the enclosure or directly on the subwoofer cones.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the enclosure and amplifier to prevent overheating.

Troubleshooting

  • No Sound: Check all wiring connections from the amplifier to the enclosure and from the enclosure to the subwoofers. Verify amplifier power and audio signal.
  • Distorted Sound: Reduce amplifier gain or bass boost settings. Check for damaged speaker cones or loose wiring. Ensure subwoofers are not over-powered.
  • Enclosure Movement: Re-secure the enclosure using additional mounting hardware or anti-slip materials like Velcro.
  • Rattling Noise: Inspect the enclosure for loose screws or panels. Ensure subwoofers are tightly mounted. Check for objects in the trunk that may be vibrating against the enclosure.
