FENGDA AS-189 Airbrush Compressor Instruction Manual

Model: AS-189

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your FENGDA AS-189 Airbrush Compressor. The AS-189 is a single-cylinder, oil-free reciprocating compressor designed for airbrushing applications. It features a 3.0-liter air tank, automatic start/stop functionality, and a maximum air pressure of 6 bar. Please read these instructions thoroughly before initial use and retain them for future reference.

2. Safety Instructions

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the compressor:

  • Ensure the power supply voltage matches the compressor's requirements (220-240 V/50 Hz).
  • Do not operate the compressor in wet or damp conditions.
  • Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the operating compressor.
  • Always disconnect the power plug before performing any maintenance or when the compressor is not in use.
  • Do not modify the compressor or its components. Use only original replacement parts.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation during operation to prevent overheating.
  • Never direct the air stream at people or animals.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as eye protection, when operating.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present and undamaged upon unpacking:

5. Setup

  1. Placement: Place the compressor on a stable, level surface in a well-ventilated area.
  2. Airbrush Connection: Connect your airbrush hose to the 1/8" thread compressor connection on the pressure regulator. Ensure a secure, airtight connection.
  3. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet (220-240 V/50 Hz). The network cable length is approximately 1.8 meters (6 feet).

6. Operating Instructions

The AS-189 compressor features a two-position power switch for different operating modes:

  • Switch Position 1 (Auto Start/Stop):

In this mode, the compressor will automatically start when the air tank pressure drops to 3 bar (43 PSI) and automatically stop when the pressure reaches 4 bar (57 PSI). This mode is ideal for maintaining consistent pressure and reducing noise and wear during intermittent use.

  • Switch Position 2 (Maximum Pressure):

In this mode, the compressor will run continuously until it reaches its maximum pressure of 6 bar (86 PSI). It will then maintain this pressure. This mode is suitable for applications requiring continuous high pressure.

Adjusting Air Pressure: Use the pressure regulator knob to adjust the output air pressure to your desired level (0.0 to 6.0 bar). The manometer will display the current output pressure.

7. Maintenance

The FENGDA AS-189 is an oil-free compressor, eliminating the need for oil changes. Regular maintenance is minimal but important for longevity:

  • Air Filter: Periodically check and clean or replace the air filter element to ensure optimal air quality and compressor performance. A clogged filter can reduce airflow and strain the motor.
  • Moisture Trap: The integrated moisture trap should be drained regularly, especially in humid environments, to prevent water from entering your airbrush.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the compressor with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the compressor in a clean, dry place.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your compressor, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Compressor does not start:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged in.
    • Verify the power switch is in position 1 or 2.
    • Ensure the electrical outlet is functional.
  • Low air pressure or no airflow:
    • Check for leaks in the airbrush hose or connections.
    • Ensure the pressure regulator is set to the desired pressure.
    • Clean or replace the air filter if it is clogged.
    • Check if the airbrush nozzle is clogged.
  • Compressor runs continuously in Auto Start/Stop mode:
    • Check for air leaks in the system (hose, airbrush, connections).
    • Ensure the pressure switch is functioning correctly.
  • Excessive noise or vibration:
    • Ensure the compressor is on a stable, level surface.
    • Check for loose components.

If problems persist, contact customer support or a qualified technician.
