The tectake® Insect Screen is designed for easy, drill-free installation and can be custom-fitted to your window. It is suitable for window frame thicknesses between 5 - 23 mm.

4.1 Preparation

  1. Measure your window opening precisely to determine the required dimensions for your insect screen.
  2. Lay out all components on a clean, flat surface.

4.2 Cutting the Frame (if necessary)

The aluminum frame can be easily cut to your exact window size using a suitable saw (e.g., hacksaw). Ensure precise measurements for a snug fit.

4.3 Assembling the Frame

  1. Connect the aluminum frame profiles using the provided plastic corner connectors.
  2. Ensure all connections are secure and form a rigid rectangular frame.

4.4 Attaching the Fiberglass Mesh

  1. Lay the fiberglass mesh over the assembled frame, ensuring it is taut and evenly distributed.
  2. Use the provided spline and spline roller tool (if included) to secure the mesh into the groove around the frame. Start from one corner and work your way around, applying even pressure.
  3. Trim any excess mesh with a utility knife once it is fully secured.

4.5 Installing the Hooks

  1. Attach the appropriate mounting hooks to the frame. The manual includes various hooks to accommodate different window frame thicknesses (5 - 23 mm).
  2. Position the hooks so they align with your window frame, allowing the insect screen to sit snugly between the window and any existing roller blinds.

4.6 Final Placement

  1. Carefully place the assembled insect screen into your window opening, ensuring the hooks engage properly with the window frame.
  2. Verify that the screen sits flush and there are no gaps for insects to enter.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the tectake® Insect Screen operates passively, providing continuous protection against insects while allowing air circulation. No specific operation is required.

  • To open or close your window, simply operate the window as usual. The insect screen remains in place.
  • If you need to remove the screen (e.g., for window cleaning), gently disengage the hooks from the window frame.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and effectiveness of your insect screen, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the fiberglass mesh with a soft brush or a damp cloth to remove dust, pollen, and debris. Mild soapy water can be used for stubborn dirt. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry.
  • Frame Care: Wipe the aluminum frame with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the mesh for tears or holes and the frame for any damage. Small tears in the mesh can often be repaired with a patch kit.
  • Storage: If removing the screen for winter or extended periods, clean it thoroughly and store it in a dry, protected area to prevent damage.
