Setup
Before First Use
- Remove any stickers or protective film from the soleplate.
- It is normal for a slight odor or smoke to be emitted during the first few minutes of use. This will disappear after a short period.
- To clean the steam channels, iron an old piece of fabric for a few minutes using the steam function.
Filling the Water Tank
- Ensure the iron is unplugged from the power outlet.
- Set the steam control slider to the 'Dry' position (no steam).
- Open the water tank filling inlet cover.
- Fill the transparent water tank (320ml capacity) with tap water up to the 'MAX' mark. Do not overfill.
- Close the water tank filling inlet cover securely.
Operating Instructions
Temperature Setting
- Plug the iron into a suitable power outlet.
- Turn the temperature control dial to the desired setting according to the fabric type. Refer to the fabric care labels on your garments.
- The LED indicator light will illuminate, indicating the iron is heating up. It will turn off when the set temperature is reached.
Steam Ironing
- Ensure the water tank is filled.
- Set the temperature control dial to a steam-suitable setting (usually 2 dots or 3 dots on the dial). Steam is not recommended for low-temperature settings.
- Once the iron reaches the set temperature (LED light off), adjust the steam control slider to your desired steam level (Eco or Max Steam). The iron will produce continuous steam at approximately 40g/min.
- For stubborn creases, press the steam shot button for an extra burst of steam. Wait a few seconds between bursts.
Vertical Steam
- This function is ideal for removing creases from hanging garments, curtains, or delicate fabrics.
- Hold the iron vertically, close to the fabric (but not touching).
- Press the steam shot button repeatedly to release bursts of vertical steam.
Spray Function
- The spray function can be used with or without steam.
- Press the spray button to lightly moisten the fabric, which helps in smoothing out creases.
Dry Ironing
- For dry ironing, ensure the water tank is empty or set the steam control slider to the 'Dry' position.
- Select the appropriate temperature for your fabric.
Automatic Safety Shut-off
The iron is equipped with an automatic safety shut-off feature. If the iron is left stationary on its heel for approximately 8 minutes, or on its soleplate for approximately 30 seconds, it will automatically switch off to prevent accidents and save energy. The LED indicator light will flash to indicate this mode. To reactivate, simply move the iron.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Iron
- Always unplug the iron and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior of the iron with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- To clean the soleplate, use a damp cloth and a non-abrasive liquid cleaner specifically designed for iron soleplates. Avoid scratching the CeraniumGlissée surface.
Descaling
Regular descaling helps maintain optimal steam performance. The frequency depends on the hardness of your water and how often you use the iron.
- Consult your local Bosch service center or refer to specific descaling solutions recommended for steam irons.
- Never use vinegar or other chemical descaling agents not approved for irons, as they can damage the appliance.
Storage
- After use, empty any remaining water from the tank.
- Allow the iron to cool down completely.
- Wrap the power cord neatly around the cord tidy.
- Store the iron upright on its heel in a safe, dry place.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Iron does not heat up. | Not plugged in; power outage; automatic shut-off activated. | Check power connection; check circuit breaker; move the iron to reactivate. |
| No steam or insufficient steam. | Water tank empty; temperature too low; steam control set to 'Dry'; steam vents blocked. | Fill water tank; set higher temperature; adjust steam control; descale iron. |
| Water drips from soleplate. | Temperature too low for steam; water tank overfilled. | Increase temperature setting; do not overfill water tank. |
| White flakes or brown stains on fabric. | Mineral deposits (limescale) in water tank/steam channels. | Descale the iron; use distilled water if tap water is very hard. |
