5. Operating Instructions
The DrivePro 100 is designed for intuitive operation. Here are the basic functions:
5.1. Power On/Off
- Automatic: The device powers on and begins recording automatically when connected to your car's power and the ignition is turned on. It powers off shortly after the ignition is turned off.
- Manual: Press and hold the Power button (usually integrated with the OK button or a dedicated button on the side) for a few seconds to manually turn the device on or off.
5.2. Recording Modes
- Continuous Loop Recording: The DrivePro 100 records video in segments (e.g., 3-5 minutes) and continuously overwrites the oldest files when the microSD card is full.
- Emergency Recording (G-Sensor): In the event of an impact or sudden braking, the built-in G-Sensor will automatically detect the event and protect the current video segment from being overwritten. This file will be saved in a separate folder (PVIDEO) on the microSD card. You can also manually trigger emergency recording by pressing the dedicated emergency record button (often red, refer to Figure 4.1).
5.3. Accessing Recorded Files
- On Device: Use the control buttons to navigate the menu on the dashcam's screen to review recorded videos and photos.
- Via Computer: Remove the microSD card from the device and insert it into a computer's card reader. The files will be organized into folders (e.g., NVIDEO for normal recordings, PVIDEO for emergency recordings, DCIM for snapshots).
- Wi-Fi Streaming (if supported): Some DrivePro models offer Wi-Fi connectivity. If available, download the Transcend DrivePro App on your smartphone to connect to the dashcam's Wi-Fi network. This allows for real-time footage playback, downloads, and settings adjustments directly from your phone.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your DrivePro 100.
- MicroSD Card Formatting: It is recommended to format the microSD card regularly (e.g., once a month) to prevent data corruption and ensure smooth recording. This can usually be done through the device's menu settings.
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the camera lens and screen with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Transcend official website for firmware updates. Updates can improve performance, add new features, or fix bugs. Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update carefully.
