6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: To clean the bulb, ensure the power is off and the bulb is cool. Gently wipe the glass surface with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Replacement: When the bulb reaches the end of its life or fails, follow the installation steps in Section 4 to safely replace it with a new, compatible fluorescent bulb.
  • Disposal: Due to the mercury content, fluorescent bulbs require special disposal. Do not dispose of them in regular household trash. Contact your local waste management authority for information on recycling or proper disposal options in your area. Many retailers also offer recycling programs for fluorescent bulbs.

7. Troubleshooting

If your GE F32T8/SPP65/ECO bulb does not operate as expected, consider the following:

  • Bulb Does Not Light:
    • Ensure the power to the fixture is on at both the wall switch and the circuit breaker.
    • Check that the bulb is securely seated in the lampholders and twisted into place.
    • Inspect the bulb for any visible damage, such as cracks or broken pins.
    • If the fixture has multiple bulbs, try swapping the non-working bulb with a known working one to determine if the issue is with the bulb or the fixture/ballast.
    • A faulty ballast in the fixture can prevent the bulb from lighting. If other bulbs in the same fixture also fail, the ballast may need replacement by a qualified electrician.
  • Flickering or Dim Light:
    • Flickering can indicate an aging bulb, a failing ballast, or improper installation.
    • Ensure the bulb is fully seated and making good contact with the lampholders.
    • If the bulb is near the end of its rated life, replacement may be necessary.

If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, contact a qualified electrician or GE customer support.
