Introduction
The AIRCARE 24x24x1 electrostatic permanent washable air filter is designed to replace disposable furnace and AC filters. This filter utilizes self-charging electrostatic media to trap dust and allergens effectively, providing a durable and reusable solution for air filtration in your home or office.
Key features include:
- Made in USA
- Permanent & Washable: Designed for repeated use after cleaning.
- Replaces disposable furnace filters, reducing waste and recurring costs.
- Self-charging electrostatic filter media: Operates without electricity.
- Traps approximately 95% of airborne dust and allergens.
This filter has a Dust Arrestance of 94%, Air Resistance of 0.12" WG, Dust Holding Capacity of 165 Grams, and a MERV 8 rating.
Setup and Installation
Installation of the AIRCARE electrostatic filter is straightforward for typical household applications. No professional assistance is generally required.
- Remove Old Filter: Carefully remove your existing disposable air filter from your furnace or AC unit.
- Insert New Filter: Replace it with your new AIRCARE filter. Ensure the filter is oriented correctly by referring to the airflow direction arrows printed on the filter label. The arrow should point in the direction of the air flow, typically towards the furnace/air handler.
- Secure Filter: Ensure the filter is seated properly within the filter slot to prevent air bypass.
For optimal performance in properly designed air systems, a minimum of one square foot of filter surface area is recommended per ton of air conditioning.

Operating Principles
The AIRCARE electrostatic filter operates on a self-charging principle, meaning it does not require an external power source or electricity. The filter media generates an electrostatic charge as air passes through it.
This electrostatic charge attracts and traps airborne particles such as dust, pollen, pet dander, and other allergens. The unique design of the filter media, including anti-microbial woven polypropylene and polyester filler, improves airflow while maximizing filtration efficiency.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning is essential to maintain the effectiveness and longevity of your AIRCARE electrostatic filter. Failure to clean the filter properly can reduce its efficiency and potentially lead to excessive dirt buildup, which may restrict airflow and damage ventilation components.
Recommended Cleaning Procedure:
- Remove Filter: Carefully remove the air filter from your furnace or AC unit.
- Flush with Water: Using a hose or showerhead, flush the filter with water in the opposite direction of the airflow arrows indicated on the filter. This helps to dislodge trapped particles.
- Rinse Thoroughly: After flushing, rinse the other side of the filter to ensure all loosened dirt and debris are removed.
- Optional Stain Removal: For stubborn stains, you may use ZAP! CLEANER, a specialized electrostatic cleaner. If used, rinse the filter thoroughly to remove all cleaner residue. Refer to your dealer for details on ZAP! CLEANER.
- Drain and Dry: Position the filter cornerside down to allow water to drain completely. Let the filter air dry for several hours (typically 15 minutes to several hours, depending on humidity and temperature) before reinstallation. Ensure the filter is completely dry to prevent mold or mildew growth.
- Reinstall: Once dry, reinstall the filter into your HVAC system, ensuring correct airflow orientation.
Regular cleaning, typically every 1-3 months depending on usage and environmental conditions, will ensure years of trouble-free operation.

Troubleshooting
If you experience reduced airflow or decreased filtration effectiveness, consider the following:
- Clogged Filter: The most common issue is a dirty filter. Refer to the Maintenance section and clean the filter thoroughly.
- Improper Installation: Ensure the filter is installed with the airflow arrow pointing in the correct direction and that it is seated snugly in the filter slot to prevent air from bypassing the filter media.
- Damage: Inspect the filter for any physical damage to the frame or media. A damaged filter may not perform optimally.
If issues persist after cleaning and re-installation, consult a qualified HVAC technician.
