3. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to perform a blood glucose measurement:
- Prepare Your Accessories: Gather your iHealth Align meter, lancing pen, a new sterile lancet, and iHealth test strips (sold separately). Place your smartphone in the provided protective sleeve.
- Wash Your Hands: Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water, then dry them completely.
- Launch the App and Connect Meter: Open the iHealth Gluco-Smart app on your smartphone. Insert the iHealth Align meter into your phone's headphone jack. The app should indicate that the device is connected.
- Scan the QR Code: The app will prompt you to scan the QR code on the iHealth test strip vial. This ensures the strips are valid and correctly calibrated.
- Insert a Test Strip: Carefully insert a new test strip into the iHealth Align meter.
- Obtain a Blood Sample: Pinch your finger gently to encourage blood flow. Use the lancing pen to prick the side of your fingertip. Gently squeeze until a small drop of blood forms.
- Apply Blood to Test Strip: Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The strip will draw the blood into the meter.
- View Your Result: Wait approximately 5 seconds for the result to appear on your smartphone screen. You can then log additional information such as meals, treatments, or activities within the app.

- Place used lancets and test strips into a suitable sharps container or a hard plastic container with a tight-fitting lid (e.g., a laundry detergent bottle).
- Do not dispose of sharps in regular household trash or recycling bins.
- Consult your local waste management guidelines for proper disposal of sharps containers.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your iHealth Align meter, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Device Not Recognized by Smartphone:
Ensure the iHealth Align meter is fully inserted into the headphone jack. Check that your phone's volume is turned up. Some phones may require a Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter. Restart the iHealth Gluco-Smart app or your smartphone. - App Not Taking a Reading / Error 301:
Verify that the test strip is correctly inserted and that the QR code on the strip vial was scanned successfully. Ensure there is sufficient blood applied to the strip. Check for app updates and ensure your phone's operating system is compatible. If the issue persists, try reinstalling the app. - Inaccurate Readings:
Ensure your hands are clean and dry before testing. Check the expiration date on your test strips and ensure they have been stored correctly. Avoid testing immediately after eating or exercising vigorously, as this can affect results. Compare readings with another reliable meter if you suspect a significant discrepancy, but always consult a healthcare professional for medical advice. - Short Battery Life:
The device uses 2 CR123A batteries. Ensure you are using fresh, high-quality batteries. If battery life remains short, contact customer support. - Difficulty with App Login/Account:
Ensure you have a stable internet connection. Double-check your email and password. If you forgot your password, use the 'Forgot Password' option. If issues persist, contact iHealth customer support.
