3. Setup
- Prepare the Gameboard: Carefully peel the gameboard label from its backing and apply it to the designated area on the red plastic game case. Ensure it is smooth and free of bubbles.
- Separate Cards: Punch out all Title Deed cards, Get Out of Jail Free cards, and the Chance and Community Chest lists from the card sheet.
- Prepare Tokens: If the plastic playing tokens are attached to a sprue, carefully snip them off using small clippers or twist them gently until they detach.
- Organize Money: Separate the Monopoly money by denomination. While there isn't a dedicated money tray, organize it into stacks for each denomination.
- Distribute Starting Funds: Refer to the game guide for the initial amount of Monopoly money each player receives.
- Place Houses and Hotels: Keep the 32 houses and 12 hotels in a common supply area accessible to all players.
- Choose Tokens: Each player selects one of the 4 plastic playing tokens.
- Place Tokens: All player tokens start on the "GO" space.
4. How to Play
The Hasbro Gaming Monopoly Grab and Go Game follows the core rules of classic Monopoly, with adaptations for its compact design. The objective is to be the last player remaining with money and properties.
4.1 Game Overview
- Players move around the board, buying and trading properties.
- The goal is to build houses and hotels on properties to charge higher rent to opponents.
- Players who run out of money and cannot pay their debts are eliminated.
4.2 Taking a Turn
- Roll the Dice: Roll the two standard dice and move your token clockwise around the board the number of spaces indicated.
- Land on a Space:
- Unowned Property: You may buy it from the Bank for the price printed on the space. If you decline, the Bank auctions it to the highest bidder.
- Owned Property: If another player owns it, you must pay them rent. If you own it, no action is taken.
- Chance or Community Chest: Instead of drawing cards, roll all three dice (two standard, one special). Consult the corresponding Chance or Community Chest list on the card sheet. The sum of the three dice will direct you to a specific action on the list.
- Tax Spaces: Pay the indicated tax to the Bank.
- Go to Jail: Move your token directly to the "In Jail" space. Your turn ends.
- Free Parking: No action is taken.
- Go: Collect $200 from the Bank as you pass or land on "GO".
- Building: If you own all properties in a color group, you may build houses and hotels on them during your turn or between turns.
- Trading: You can trade properties, money, or Get Out of Jail Free cards with other players at any time.
4.3 Ending Your Turn
Once you have completed all actions for your turn, play passes to the player on your left.
4.4 Game End
The game ends when only one player remains solvent. That player is the winner.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the plastic game case and tokens with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.
- Storage: Store all game components inside the game case when not in use. Ensure money and cards are neatly stacked to prevent damage and loss. The gameboard itself offers some storage capacity.
- Handling: Handle small components like houses, hotels, and money carefully to prevent loss, especially during travel.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Small Pieces are Difficult to Handle
Due to the compact nature of the Grab and Go game, components such as money, cards, houses, and hotels are smaller than standard Monopoly. Exercise extra care when handling them. Consider playing on a stable, flat surface to minimize accidental drops.
6.2 Components Jumble During Travel
The game case has limited internal compartments. To prevent components from mixing during travel, organize money and cards into small rubber-banded stacks or use small, resealable bags for houses, hotels, and tokens before placing them in the case.
6.3 Gameboard Label Peeling
If the gameboard label begins to peel, gently press it back into place. For added durability, some users apply a clear protective film (not included) over the label after initial application.
