Control Buttons:
- MODE: Selects the operating mode (Charge, Discharge, Discharge Refresh, Charge Test, Quick Test).
- DISPLAY: Cycles through displayed information (voltage, capacity, time, current) for the selected slot.
- CURRENT: Adjusts the charging or discharging current.
- SLOT: Selects individual battery slots for programming or viewing information.
5. Setup
- Connect the wall adapter power supply to the DC input jack on the back of the BT-C2400 charger.
- Plug the power adapter into a standard AC outlet (100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz). The charger's LCD will illuminate.
- Insert AA or AAA NiMH/NiCd rechargeable batteries into the desired slots, observing correct polarity (+ and -). The charger will automatically detect the battery type and display initial information.
6. Operating Modes
The BT-C2400 offers five distinct operating modes. You can program each channel independently or all together.
6.1. Charge Mode
This mode charges batteries at a selected current. The charger uses Negative Delta V (-dV) full charge detection to prevent overcharging.
- Insert batteries.
- Press the MODE button until "CHARGE" is displayed.
- Use the SLOT button to select a specific channel if programming individually.
- Press the CURRENT button to adjust the charging current (200mA to 1400mA in 200mA increments; maximum 1000mA if all 4 channels are used). The default is 400mA.
- The charging process will begin automatically after a few seconds. The LCD will show current, voltage, and elapsed time.
6.2. Discharge Mode
This mode discharges batteries at a selected current to determine their actual capacity or to prepare them for a full charge cycle.
- Insert batteries.
- Press the MODE button until "DISCHARGE" is displayed.
- Use the SLOT button to select a specific channel.
- Press the CURRENT button to adjust the discharging current (100mA to 500mA).
- The discharging process will begin automatically.
6.3. Discharge Refresh Mode
This mode cycles batteries through discharge and charge cycles multiple times to restore their full capacity, especially useful for older or underperforming batteries.
- Insert batteries.
- Press the MODE button until "DISCHARGE REFRESH" is displayed.
- Adjust discharge and charge currents as desired using the CURRENT button.
- The refresh cycle will start automatically. The LCD will display the current cycle number and capacity.
6.4. Charge Test Mode
This mode first fully charges the battery, then discharges it to measure its actual capacity, and finally recharges it. This provides an accurate capacity rating.
- Insert batteries.
- Press the MODE button until "CHARGE TEST" is displayed.
- Adjust charge and discharge currents.
- The test cycle will begin. The measured capacity will be displayed after the discharge phase.
6.5. Quick Test Mode
This mode quickly measures the internal resistance of the battery, providing an indication of its health and performance.
- Insert batteries.
- Press the MODE button until "QUICK TEST" is displayed.
- The internal resistance will be displayed within a few seconds.

8. Maintenance
- Clean the charger's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the battery contacts are clean and free of debris for optimal performance.
- Store the charger in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- Avoid dropping the charger or subjecting it to strong impacts.
9. Troubleshooting
- Charger not powering on: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the charger and the wall outlet. Verify the outlet has power.
- Battery not detected: Check that the battery is inserted correctly with the proper polarity. Ensure the battery contacts are clean.
- Battery overheating: Discontinue charging immediately. Ensure the charger is in a well-ventilated area. Some older or damaged batteries may generate more heat; consider replacing them. The charger has independent temperature sensors to manage battery temperature.
- Inaccurate capacity readings: Perform a "Discharge Refresh" or "Charge Test" cycle to recondition and accurately measure the battery's capacity.
- "HIGH" resistance error (if applicable): The BT-C2400 is designed to attempt charging even high-resistance cells, potentially at a reduced rate. If a battery consistently shows very high resistance and does not improve with refresh cycles, it may be at the end of its lifespan.
