Product Overview

The Summit SCM853 is a 900W compact microwave oven designed for convenience and efficiency. It features a brushed stainless steel exterior and a polished stainless steel interior for easy cleaning. The digital controls offer a variety of cooking functions, including options for popcorn, reheating, defrosting, melting, and softening butter. This model provides multiple power levels, the ability to program two cooking steps, and a child lock for added safety. It comes equipped with a glass turntable and a push-to-open button for the door.

Setup and Installation

1. Unpacking

• Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the microwave oven.
• Inspect the oven for any damage, such as a misaligned or bent door, damaged door seals, or dents in the cavity. If any damage is present, do not operate the oven and contact your dealer.

2. Placement

• Place the microwave oven on a flat, stable surface that can support its weight and the heaviest food item likely to be cooked in it.
• Ensure adequate ventilation. Allow a minimum of 4 inches (10 cm) of clearance around the sides, top, and rear for proper airflow. Do not block air vents.
• Keep the oven away from heat sources, steam, or splashing liquids.
• The dimensions of the unit are approximately 11.0 inches (H) x 18.88 inches (W) x 14.25 inches (D).

3. Electrical Requirements

• The microwave requires a 120 Volt, 60 Hz, AC only, 15 Amp or more electrical supply with a grounded outlet.
• Do not use an extension cord. If the power cord is too short, have a qualified electrician install an outlet near the appliance.

4. Turntable Installation

• Place the roller ring securely in the circular depression on the oven floor.
• Place the glass turntable on top of the roller ring, ensuring it sits properly in the center.
• The turntable must always be in place when cooking.

Operating Instructions

1. Control Panel Overview

The digital touchpad features number buttons (0-9), dedicated function buttons (Popcorn, Reheat, Defrost, Melt, Soften), and control buttons (Power Level, Cook, Stop/Clear, Start, Minute Plus, Timer, Clock).

2. Setting the Clock

1. Press the CLOCK button.
2. Enter the current time using the number buttons.
3. Press the CLOCK button again to confirm.

3. Basic Cooking (Time Cook)

1. Press the COOK button.
2. Enter the desired cooking time using the number buttons.
3. To adjust power level (optional): Press POWER LEVEL, then enter a number from 1 to 10 (10 being full power).
4. Press the START button to begin cooking.

4. Pre-set Functions

• Popcorn: Press the POPCORN button. The oven will automatically set the cooking time for a standard bag of popcorn.
• Reheat: Press the REHEAT button. The oven will use a pre-programmed setting for reheating.
• Defrost: Press the DEFROST button, then enter the weight or time for defrosting. Press START.
• Melt: Press the MELT button, select the food type (e.g., butter, chocolate), then press START.
• Soften: Press the SOFTEN button, select the food type (e.g., ice cream, cream cheese), then press START.

5. Child Lock

To activate the child lock, press and hold the STOP/CLEAR button for 3 seconds. A lock indicator will appear on the display. To deactivate, press and hold the STOP/CLEAR button again for 3 seconds.

6. Two-Stage Cooking

This feature allows you to program two consecutive cooking stages with different times and power levels.

1. Program the first cooking stage (time and power level) as you would for basic cooking.
2. Immediately program the second cooking stage (time and power level).
3. Press the START button. The oven will automatically switch from the first stage to the second stage after the first stage is complete.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your microwave oven.

1. Exterior Cleaning

• Wipe the exterior surface with a soft, damp cloth.
• Avoid using abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or chemical solvents, as they can damage the stainless steel finish.

2. Interior Cleaning

• Wipe spills and food splatters immediately with a damp cloth.
• For stubborn stains, use a mild soap and water solution. Do not use harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners.
• Ensure the interior is dry before closing the door.

3. Turntable and Roller Ring

• The glass turntable and roller ring can be removed for cleaning.
• Wash them in warm, soapy water or in the top rack of a dishwasher.
• Ensure they are completely dry before placing them back in the oven.
