Setup
Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the device.
- Slide the battery cover open.
- Insert two AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery cover securely.
MicroSD Card Installation
- Locate the Micro SD card slot on the side of the device.
- Gently push the Micro SD card into the slot until it clicks into place.
- To remove, push the card inward until it springs out.
Powering On/Off
- To power on, press and hold the /HOME button until the display illuminates.
- To power off, press and hold the /HOME button until the display turns off.
Operating the DR-05
Recording Audio
- Press the RECORD button once to enter record standby mode. The recording level meters will appear on the display.
- Adjust the input level using the + and - buttons on the directional pad to ensure optimal audio capture without clipping.
- Press the RECORD button again to begin recording. The REC indicator will light up.
- To pause recording, press the RECORD button once. Press again to resume.
- To stop recording, press the STOP button.
The DR-05 supports recording in WAV (up to 24-bit/96kHz) and MP3 formats. These settings can be adjusted in the recording menu.
Connecting External Microphones
- Connect an external microphone to the MIC/EXT IN 3.5mm jack located at the top of the device.
- Ensure that the MIC POWER setting is enabled in the recording menu if your external microphone requires plug-in power.
Monitoring Audio
- Connect headphones to the LINE OUT 3.5mm jack on the side of the device to monitor audio during recording or playback.
Adjusting Settings
- Press the MENU button to access the device settings.
- Use the directional pad (UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT) to navigate through options and the PLAY/ENTER button to confirm selections.
- Key settings include recording format, sample rate, input level, and microphone power.
Maintenance
Cleaning
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device.
- Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish or internal components.
Battery Care
- Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
- Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
Troubleshooting
No Sound from External Microphone
- Check if the external microphone is securely connected to the MIC/EXT IN jack.
- Navigate to the REC SETTING menu and ensure MIC POWER is set to ON if your microphone requires power.
- Verify the microphone cable is not damaged.
Audio Levels Too Low/High
- During record standby, adjust the input level using the + and - buttons on the directional pad. Aim for levels that peak in the yellow range on the meter without consistently hitting red.
- Check the REC SETTING menu for any active effects like LIMITER or LOW CUT that might be affecting the audio.
