3. Operating Your Watch

Your Bulova 96B220 watch is powered by a reliable Japanese Quartz movement, ensuring accurate timekeeping with minimal intervention. The luminous hands and markers provide enhanced visibility in low-light conditions, allowing you to read the time easily at any hour.

3.1 Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 ATM). This means it is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes, rain, and brief immersion in water, such as light swimming. It is not designed for scuba diving or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water to maintain water resistance.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints.
  • For the stainless steel bracelet, use a soft brush and mild soapy water to clean between the links. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry immediately with a soft cloth.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the watch's finish.

4.2 Battery Replacement

The watch uses one LR44 battery. The battery life is approximately 3 years. When the battery needs replacement, it is highly recommended to have it replaced by an authorized Bulova service center or a qualified watchmaker to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.

4.3 Bracelet Adjustment

The stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted by removing or adding links. This procedure requires specialized tools and expertise. It is recommended to have bracelet adjustments performed by an authorized Bulova service center or a professional jeweler to prevent damage to the bracelet or clasp.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running:

Check if the crown is fully pushed in. If the watch still does not run, the battery may need replacement. Refer to Section 4.2 for battery replacement recommendations.

  • Date Not Changing:

Ensure the time is set correctly, especially the AM/PM cycle. The date typically changes around midnight. If the date is set manually between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, it might not change correctly. Adjust the time past 3:00 AM before setting the date.

  • Condensation Inside Crystal:

If you notice condensation under the crystal, it indicates a loss of water resistance. This requires immediate attention from an authorized service center to prevent further damage to the movement.
