Operating Instructions
Initial Charging
Before first use, fully charge the battery pack. This typically takes several hours. Refer to your ICOM radio's manual for specific charging instructions and recommended charger types. Use only chargers compatible with Ni-MH batteries.
Normal Charging
Connect the radio with the installed battery to its compatible charger. The charging indicator on your radio or charger will typically show the charging status. Disconnect the charger once the battery is fully charged to prevent overcharging, which can reduce battery life.
Usage
Once charged, the battery is ready for use with your ICOM radio. Monitor the radio's battery level indicator during operation. Recharge the battery when the indicator shows low power to avoid interruption of communication.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the battery terminals and radio contacts with a dry, soft cloth to ensure good electrical connection.
- Storage: If storing the battery for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% capacity and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Recharge every 3-6 months to prevent deep discharge.
- Battery Life: To maximize battery life, avoid frequent deep discharges and overcharging. It is recommended to fully discharge and recharge Ni-MH batteries periodically (e.g., once a month) to prevent memory effect.
