1. Introduction

The Nitecore D2 is an advanced universal smart charger compatible with nearly all cylindrical rechargeable batteries. It automatically detects Li-ion, IMR, LiFePO4, Ni-MH, and Ni-Cd batteries, and through intelligent circuitry, selects the optimal charging mode (CC, CV, and dV/dt). The integrated LCD panel clearly displays charging parameters and progress. The D2 features two independently controlled charging slots, allowing for simultaneous charging of different battery types.

2. Safety Information

• Use the charger only with compatible rechargeable batteries as listed in the specifications. Attempting to charge non-rechargeable batteries may cause explosion, rupture, or leakage, resulting in property damage and/or personal injury.
• Ensure correct battery polarity (+/-) when inserting batteries into the charging slots. The charger features reverse polarity protection.
• Do not leave charging batteries unattended.
• Keep the charger away from water, high humidity, and extreme temperatures.

5. Setup

1. Connect Power: Plug the AC power cord into the charger and then into a wall outlet, or connect the 12V DC car power cord to the charger and then to your vehicle's 12V DC socket. The charger will perform a self-test, and the LCD screen will illuminate.
2. Initial Display: When no batteries are inserted, the LCD will display "null".

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Inserting Batteries

Insert one or two rechargeable batteries into the D2's charging slots. The charger will automatically identify the battery type (Li-ion, IMR, Ni-MH, Ni-Cd) and begin charging. For LiFePO4 batteries, manual selection is required (see section 6.4).

6.2 Understanding the LCD Display

The integrated LCD panel provides real-time information about the charging process:

• Charging Status: Displays the current charge level with a bar graph.
• Battery Type: Indicates the detected battery chemistry (e.g., Li-ion, Ni-MH).
• Charging Mode: Shows the active charging mode (CC, CV, or -dV/dt).
• Voltage: Displays the current battery voltage.
• Current: Shows the charging current in mA.
• Charging Time: Indicates the elapsed charging duration.

Use the two side buttons to cycle through information for each slot or to select specific battery types and charging parameters.

6.3 Charging Process

Once a battery is inserted, the charger will automatically detect its type and begin charging. The LCD will show the progress. Charging stops automatically when complete.

6.4 Manual LiFePO4 Selection

For LiFePO4 batteries, the charger requires manual selection. After inserting a LiFePO4 battery, press the side button corresponding to that slot to cycle through the battery types until "LiFePO4" is displayed. The charger will then proceed with the appropriate charging cycle.

6.5 Using AA to D Battery Converter Spacers

The included EdisonBright AA to D battery converter spacers allow you to use rechargeable AA batteries in devices designed for D-sized batteries. Simply insert an AA battery into the spacer, then place the spacer into the D-sized battery compartment of your device. These spacers do not affect the charging process of the AA batteries in the Nitecore D2 charger.

7. Maintenance

• Clean the charger and battery contacts regularly with a dry, soft cloth.
• Store the charger in a cool, dry place when not in use.
• Avoid exposing the charger to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.

8. Troubleshooting

• Charger not powering on: Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the charger and the power outlet/source. Check if the outlet is functional.
• Battery not charging: Verify that the battery is inserted with correct polarity. Ensure the battery is a compatible rechargeable type. If the battery is severely over-discharged, it may not be recognized immediately; try reinserting.
• LCD display shows "null": This indicates no battery is detected in the slot. Ensure the battery is properly seated and making contact.
• Overheating: The charger has temperature monitoring. If the charger or battery becomes excessively hot, discontinue use and allow it to cool. Ensure proper ventilation around the charger.
