2. Important Safety Information

  • This charger is designed for use on LEAD ACID BATTERIES ONLY. It is not for use with lithium batteries. Using it with incompatible battery types can cause damage or injury.
  • Ensure the charging area is well-ventilated.
  • Avoid sparks, flames, and smoking near the battery or charger.
  • Wear appropriate eye protection and protective clothing when working with batteries.
  • The charger features reverse hook-up protection to help prevent damage if clamps are connected incorrectly. However, always double-check connections.

4. Setup

  1. Prepare the Battery: Ensure the battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion.
  2. Connect Battery Clamps:
    • Connect the RED (positive, +) clamp to the positive battery terminal.
    • Connect the BLACK (negative, -) clamp to the negative battery terminal.
    • Ensure a secure connection.
  3. Connect to Power: Plug the charger's AC power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet. The 'Power ON' LED indicator should illuminate.

5. Operating Instructions

Selecting Charge Mode

The Banshee charger offers three charging modes:

  • 2 Amp (Slow Charge): Intended for charging small batteries such as those commonly used in garden tractors, snowmobiles, and motorcycles.
  • 10 Amp (Fast Charge): Use for charging automotive, marine, and deep-cycle batteries. Not intended for industrial applications.
  • 50 Amp (Engine Start): Provides additional amps for cranking an engine with a weak or run-down battery. Always use in combination with a battery.

Use the Charge Rate Selector Switch on the control panel to choose the desired amperage.

Battery Type Selection

Use the Battery Type Switch on the control panel to select between SLI (Starting, Lighting, Ignition) and Deep Cycle battery types for optimized charging.

Monitoring Charging Progress

  • The Ammeter will show the current flowing into the battery. As the battery charges, the amperage will gradually decrease.
  • The 'Full Charge' LED indicator will illuminate when the battery has reached a full charge. The charger will then automatically switch to a maintenance (float) mode to prevent overcharging.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the charger from power and the battery before cleaning. Wipe the casing with a dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasives.

  • Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cord and battery cables for any signs of damage, fraying, or exposed wires. Do not use the charger if cables are damaged.
