4. Setup
- Prepare the Battery: Ensure the battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion.
- Connect Battery Clamps:
- Connect the RED (positive, +) clamp to the positive battery terminal.
- Connect the BLACK (negative, -) clamp to the negative battery terminal.
- Ensure a secure connection.
- Connect to Power: Plug the charger's AC power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet. The 'Power ON' LED indicator should illuminate.
5. Operating Instructions
Selecting Charge Mode
The Banshee charger offers three charging modes:

Figure 5.1: Overview of the three charging modes and their applications.
- 2 Amp (Slow Charge): Intended for charging small batteries such as those commonly used in garden tractors, snowmobiles, and motorcycles.
- 10 Amp (Fast Charge): Use for charging automotive, marine, and deep-cycle batteries. Not intended for industrial applications.
- 50 Amp (Engine Start): Provides additional amps for cranking an engine with a weak or run-down battery. Always use in combination with a battery.
Use the Charge Rate Selector Switch on the control panel to choose the desired amperage.
Battery Type Selection
Use the Battery Type Switch on the control panel to select between SLI (Starting, Lighting, Ignition) and Deep Cycle battery types for optimized charging.
Monitoring Charging Progress
- The Ammeter will show the current flowing into the battery. As the battery charges, the amperage will gradually decrease.
- The 'Full Charge' LED indicator will illuminate when the battery has reached a full charge. The charger will then automatically switch to a maintenance (float) mode to prevent overcharging.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Disconnect the charger from power and the battery before cleaning. Wipe the casing with a dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasives.
- Storage: Store the charger in a cool, dry place when not in use. Ensure cables are neatly coiled and not kinked.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cord and battery cables for any signs of damage, fraying, or exposed wires. Do not use the charger if cables are damaged.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Charger not turning on (Power ON LED off) | No power from outlet; faulty power cord; internal issue. | Check outlet with another device; inspect power cord for damage; contact support if problem persists. |
| Battery not charging (Ammeter shows no current) | Incorrect battery connection; battery is already fully charged; severely discharged battery; faulty battery. | Ensure clamps are securely connected (red to positive, black to negative); check 'Full Charge' LED; try a different battery to test charger; consult a battery specialist. |
| Charger shuts off unexpectedly | Overheating; internal protection triggered (e.g., short circuit, reverse polarity). | Allow charger to cool down; check for correct battery connections; ensure no short circuits; ensure proper ventilation. |
| Ammeter needle is erratic or fluctuates wildly | Poor connection to battery terminals; internal issue. | Clean and secure battery terminal connections; if problem persists, contact support. |
