Operating Instructions
The TK103A can be operated via SMS commands or through a web-based tracking platform (BAANOOL IOT).
Initial Configuration (SMS Commands):
Before using the device, you need to configure it. All SMS commands should be sent from an authorized phone number to the SIM card number inside the tracker.
- Activate Device: Send "begin123456" to the tracker's SIM card number. The tracker should reply with "begin ok!".
- Change Password: For security, change the default password. Send "password123456 newpassword" (replace "newpassword" with your desired 6-digit password).

- Environmental Protection: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or high humidity. Ensure it is installed in a dry location.
- Secure Installation: Periodically check that the device and its antennas are securely mounted and that all wiring connections are firm. Vibrations can loosen connections over time.
- SIM Card and GPRS: Ensure the SIM card has sufficient credit/data plan and is active. GPRS connectivity is essential for web-based tracking.
- Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website or the BAANOOL IOT platform for any available firmware updates. Follow instructions carefully if an update is necessary.
- Battery Health: The device has a built-in backup battery. While designed for longevity, extreme temperatures can affect its performance. If the low battery alarm is frequent, consider professional inspection.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your TK103A GPS Tracker, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | No power supply; incorrect wiring; faulty device. | Check power connections (red and black wires). Ensure vehicle battery is charged. Verify backup battery switch is ON. |
| No GPS signal. | Poor GPS antenna connection; device in a shielded location; no clear sky view. | Ensure GPS antenna is securely connected and placed with a clear view of the sky (e.g., under dashboard, not under metal). Move vehicle to an open area. |
| No GSM signal / Cannot send SMS commands. | SIM card not inserted correctly; SIM card not activated; no credit/data; poor GSM signal area; incorrect APN. | Reinsert SIM card. Check SIM card activation and balance on a mobile phone. Move to an area with better network coverage. Verify APN settings. |
| Tracker not reporting to web platform. | Incorrect APN/IP settings; GPRS not enabled; server issues. | Verify APN, IP address, and port settings via SMS commands. Ensure GPRS is enabled. Check BAANOOL IOT platform status. |
| Remote engine cut-off not working. | Incorrect relay wiring; vehicle ignition is off; safety features preventing cut-off. | Verify relay wiring according to the diagram. Ensure the vehicle is moving at a low speed or stationary (some trackers have safety cut-off limits). |
| Alarms not triggering. | Alarm settings incorrect; admin numbers not set; sensor not connected. | Review alarm configuration via SMS or web platform. Ensure admin numbers are correctly set. Check sensor connections (e.g., door triggers, shock sensor). |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
