3. Setup

  1. Attach Your Device:

Locate the rubberized, non-slip mounting surface at the top of the stabilizer. Secure your digital camera or camcorder directly to this surface using the standard 1/4-inch screw. For smartphones, attach the smartphone adapter first, then secure your phone within the adapter. For GoPro cameras, use the provided GoPro adapter.

  2. Initial Balancing:

Hold the stabilizer by its foam-covered hand grip. Observe the built-in bubble level. The goal is to achieve a balanced state where the bubble is centered, indicating the stabilizer is level. This may require slight adjustments to the position of your camera/device on the mounting plate or adjusting the counterweight at the bottom.

  3. Fine-Tuning Balance:

Gently tilt the stabilizer forward, backward, and side-to-side. The device should return to a level position smoothly without excessive swinging. Adjust the counterweight by sliding it along its rod or adding/removing additional weights (if applicable) until optimal balance is achieved. A well-balanced stabilizer will allow for fluid, stable movements.

4. Operating Instructions

Once your device is securely mounted and balanced, you are ready to begin recording stable footage.

  • Holding the Stabilizer:

Grip the foam-covered handle firmly but comfortably. The handle is designed to rotate freely, allowing the stabilizer body to remain level even as your hand moves. Keep your arm slightly bent to act as a natural shock absorber.

  • Movement Techniques:

Walk smoothly and deliberately. Avoid sudden jerks or rapid changes in direction. Practice walking heel-to-toe to minimize vertical movement. For panning shots, rotate your entire body rather than just your wrist.

  • Monitoring Footage:

If your camera or smartphone has a live view screen, monitor it during recording to ensure the desired framing and stability. Adjust your grip and movement as needed.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your VidPro Handheld Video Stabilizer, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the stabilizer with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove dust and fingerprints. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the stabilizer in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they are secure. Do not overtighten.
