Interlogix Micro Crystal Door/Window Sensor User Manual

Model: TX-1012-01-1 (60-688-95)

1. Introduction

This user manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Interlogix Micro Crystal Door/Window Sensor. This compact wireless sensor is designed to detect the opening and closing of doors and windows, providing essential security monitoring for your home or business when integrated with a compatible alarm system.

2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing or operating this device. Failure to do so may result in damage to the product, property, or personal injury.

  • Battery Safety: Use only the specified battery type (1 CR2 battery). Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
  • Environmental Conditions: Do not expose the sensor to extreme temperatures, high humidity, or direct water contact.
  • Disassembly: Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the sensor. This will void the warranty and may cause damage.
  • Placement: Ensure the sensor is mounted securely to prevent accidental detachment.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present in your package:

  • Interlogix Micro Crystal Door/Window Sensor (Main Unit)
  • Magnet (for door/window frame)
  • Mounting Hardware (e.g., 3M adhesive tape, screws)
  • CR2 Battery (may be pre-installed with a pull tab)

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install and integrate your sensor with your security system.

4.1. Battery Installation

The sensor requires one CR2 battery. If a plastic pull tab is present, remove it to activate the battery. If not, open the sensor casing (refer to diagram if available) and insert the CR2 battery, observing polarity.

4.2. Sensor Placement

Choose a suitable location on your door or window frame. The main sensor unit should be mounted on the stationary frame, and the magnet on the moving part (door or window sash). Ensure the sensor and magnet are aligned and within 0.5 inches (1.27 cm) of each other when the door/window is closed.

4.3. Mounting the Sensor

You can mount the sensor using either the included adhesive tape or screws.

  • Adhesive Mounting: Clean the surface thoroughly. Peel the backing from the adhesive tape and firmly press the sensor and magnet into place. Hold for 30 seconds to ensure good adhesion.
  • Screw Mounting: For a more secure installation, use the provided screws. Mark the screw holes, pre-drill if necessary, and secure the sensor and magnet to the frame.

4.4. Learning the Sensor into Your Alarm System

This sensor is compatible with various Interlogix and GE Simon security systems. The exact procedure for "learning" the sensor into your system may vary. Consult your alarm system's user manual for specific instructions. Generally, the process involves:

  1. Accessing the system's programming mode (often requires a master code).
  2. Selecting the option to add a new wireless sensor or zone.
  3. Triggering the sensor (e.g., by opening and closing the door/window, or removing the battery pull tab) to transmit its unique ID to the control panel.
  4. Assigning the sensor to a specific zone and configuring its type (e.g., "Entry/Exit," "Perimeter").
  5. Exiting programming mode and testing the sensor.

Note: Ensure your system's transmission frequency is compatible with this sensor (e.g., 319.5 MHz for some GE Simon systems).

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed and learned into your alarm system, the Interlogix Micro Crystal Door/Window Sensor operates automatically.

  • When the door or window is closed, the sensor and magnet are in close proximity, indicating a secure state.
  • When the door or window is opened, the sensor and magnet separate. The sensor detects this change and transmits a signal to your alarm control panel.
  • Depending on your system's programming, this signal can trigger an alarm, activate a chime, or simply log the event.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance of your sensor.

6.1. Battery Replacement

The sensor will typically send a low battery signal to your control panel when the battery needs replacement. To replace the battery:

  1. Put your alarm system in test mode or disarm it to prevent false alarms.
  2. Carefully open the sensor casing.
  3. Remove the old CR2 battery.
  4. Insert a new CR2 battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  5. Close the sensor casing securely.
  6. Test the sensor to confirm it is communicating with the control panel.

6.2. Cleaning

Wipe the sensor with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Sensor not responding / Not learning into system
  • Battery not installed or dead.
  • Sensor too far from control panel.
  • Incorrect learning procedure.
  • System incompatibility.
  • Check/replace battery.
  • Relocate sensor closer to panel or consider a repeater.
  • Refer to your alarm system's manual for learning steps.
  • Verify system compatibility (e.g., 319.5 MHz frequency).
False alarms
  • Sensor/magnet misalignment.
  • Loose mounting.
  • Interference.
  • Realign sensor and magnet; ensure they are within 0.5 inches when closed.
  • Securely remount the sensor and magnet.
  • Check for nearby electronic devices causing interference.
