2.3. Component Installation
Follow these steps for installing essential components:
- CPU Installation:
Carefully open the CPU socket lever. Align the triangular mark on the Intel LGA1150 CPU with the mark on the socket. Gently place the CPU into the socket without forcing it. Close the lever to secure the CPU.
- CPU Cooler Installation:
Apply thermal paste (if not pre-applied) to the CPU. Mount the CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions, ensuring it is securely fastened and the fan is connected to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard.
- Memory (RAM) Installation:
Open the clips on both ends of the DDR3 DIMM slots. Align the notch on the memory module with the key in the DIMM slot. Press down firmly on both ends of the module until the clips snap into place. Install modules in matching color slots for dual-channel operation.
- Graphics Card (PCIe) Installation:
Open the retention clip on the desired PCI Express x16 slot. Align the graphics card with the slot and press down firmly until it is seated. Secure the card with a screw to the chassis. Connect any required PCIe power cables from the power supply to the graphics card.
- Storage Devices (SATA/M.2) Installation:
Connect SATA data cables from your hard drives or SSDs to the SATA ports on the motherboard. Connect SATA power cables from the power supply to the drives. For M.2 SSDs, insert the M.2 module into the M.2 slot and secure it with the provided screw.
- Power Supply Connections:
Connect the 24-pin ATX main power connector and the 8-pin (or 4-pin) ATX 12V CPU power connector from your power supply to the corresponding ports on the motherboard.
- Front Panel Connections:
Connect the front panel headers (Power SW, Reset SW, HDD LED, Power LED) and USB/Audio headers from your PC case to the corresponding pins on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard manual for exact pin layouts.
