Setup

1. Installing Batteries

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote control.
  2. Slide the battery cover downwards and lift to open.
  3. Insert two (2) fresh AA alkaline batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align with the markings inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery cover by sliding it back into place until it clicks securely.

2. Programming the Remote Control

The RCA 4-Device Universal Remote Control can be programmed using direct code entry or auto code search.

Direct Code Entry (Recommended)

This method requires a specific code for your device's brand. Refer to the code list provided with your remote (or available online from RCA support).

  1. Turn on the device you wish to program (e.g., TV, DVD player).
  2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the indicator light turns on.
  3. Press and release the device button you want to program (e.g., TV, DVD/VCR, SAT/STREAM, AUX/AUDIO). The indicator light will blink once and then remain lit.
  4. Enter the 4-digit code for your device's brand using the number buttons.
  5. If the code is valid, the indicator light will turn off. If the light blinks and stays on, the code is invalid; re-enter the correct code.
  6. Test the remote by pressing the POWER button. If the device turns off, try other functions like VOLUME UP or CHANNEL UP. If it works, programming is complete.
  7. If the device does not respond, try the next code listed for your brand.

Auto Code Search

This method searches through all available codes until a match is found.

  1. Turn on the device you wish to program.
  2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the indicator light turns on.
  3. Press and release the device button you want to program (e.g., TV). The indicator light will blink once and then remain lit.
  4. Point the remote at the device and repeatedly press the POWER button (or PLAY for VCR/DVD) until the device turns off.
  5. Once the device turns off, immediately press the ENTER button to save the code. The indicator light will turn off.
  6. Test the remote's functions. If not all functions work, repeat the auto code search process to find a better matching code.
