Setup

2. Positioning the Solar Panel

Unfold the solar panel and extend the integrated legs. Position the panel in a location that receives maximum direct sunlight throughout the day. Adjust the angle of the panel using the legs to optimize sun exposure. Avoid shaded areas from trees, buildings, or other obstructions, as even partial shading can significantly reduce power output.

3. Connecting to Your Battery System

The Zamp Solar 120P kit offers two primary methods for connecting to your battery:

  • Direct Battery Connection (Alligator Clips): Connect the red alligator clip to the positive (+) terminal of your battery and the black alligator clip to the negative (-) terminal. Ensure a secure connection.
  • SAE Port Connection: If your RV or vehicle is equipped with a Zamp Solar sidewall port, you can remove the alligator clips to reveal an SAE connector. Plug this directly into the compatible SAE port on your vehicle.

The integrated charge controller will automatically detect the battery voltage (6V or 12V) and begin charging. The controller prevents overcharging and manages the power flow to your battery.

Operating Instructions

Monitoring the Charge Controller
