Before first use, fully charge the shaver. Connect the charging cord to the shaver and plug it into a power outlet. The battery indicator light will illuminate to show charging status. A full charge takes approximately 1 hour and provides up to 50 minutes of cordless shaving. A 3-minute quick charge can provide enough power for one shave.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
For easy cleaning, simply rinse the shaver head under a running faucet after each use. Ensure the shaver is unplugged before cleaning. For a more thorough cleaning, detach the shaving head and use the provided cleaning brush to remove any trapped hairs.
4.2 Replacing Shaving Heads
For optimal performance, replace the shaving heads every 12 months. The Philips Norelco Shaver 4500 uses HQ8 replacement heads (also referred to as SH50 in some packaging). Refer to the replacement head packaging for specific instructions on how to replace them.
5. Troubleshooting
- Shaver not turning on: Ensure the shaver is fully charged. If it's plugged in, check the power outlet. The shaver cannot be operated while charging.
- Poor shaving performance: Clean the shaving heads thoroughly. If performance does not improve, the shaving heads may need to be replaced. Replace heads every 12 months for best results.
- Skin irritation: Ensure you are using the correct shaving technique (small circular motions). Consider using a wet shave with foam or gel to reduce friction.
- Trimmer not working: Ensure the pop-up trimmer is fully extended. Clean any hair debris from the trimmer blades.
