Setup and First Use
- Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the coffee maker for any damage.
- Wash: Before first use, wash all parts of the coffee maker (upper chamber, funnel, lower chamber) with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Initial Brew (Optional): For optimal flavor, it is recommended to perform an initial brew with water only, or with a small amount of coffee that will be discarded. This cleanses any manufacturing residues.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to brew coffee with your Braisogona Elegance Coffee Maker:
- Fill Water: Unscrew the upper chamber from the lower chamber. Fill the bottom part of the coffee maker with cold water. Ensure the water level is just below the safety valve. The water level must not be higher than the level of the valve.
- Insert Funnel: Place the metal funnel filter inside the lower chamber.
- Add Coffee: Fill the funnel with ground coffee. Do not pack the coffee too tightly. Only use ground coffee; do not use coffee extracts or infusions.
- Use Reducer (Optional): If you wish to brew a smaller quantity of coffee, first place the reducer into the funnel, then fill it with ground coffee. It is important to place the reducer before the coffee. Do not place the reducer on top of the ground coffee.
- Assemble: Screw the upper chamber onto the lower chamber until it is completely sealed. Ensure a tight seal to prevent steam leakage.
- Heat: Place the coffee maker on a stovetop over low heat. For induction cooktops, ensure the base makes proper contact. We recommend using low heat and avoiding flames from coming up the sides of the coffee maker.
- Brew: The water will heat and rise through the coffee grounds into the upper chamber. Remove the coffee maker from the heat once all the coffee has come out and the upper chamber is full.
- Serve: Pour and enjoy your freshly brewed coffee.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper cleaning ensures the longevity and performance of your coffee maker.
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, allow the coffee maker to cool completely. Disassemble all parts and wash them with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
- Dishwasher Safe: The Braisogona Elegance Coffee Maker is dishwasher safe. However, hand washing is recommended to preserve the finish and extend the product's life.
- Drying: Dry all components completely before reassembling or storing to prevent water spots and mineral buildup.
- Gasket and Filter: Periodically check the silicone gasket and filter plate for wear and tear. Replace if necessary to maintain a proper seal and optimal brewing.
Safety Precautions
Always observe the following safety guidelines when using your coffee maker:
- Hot Surfaces: Surfaces of the coffee maker become hot during and after use. Use the handle and knob for handling. Avoid touching hot metal parts to prevent burns.
- Steam Jet: A steam jet may eject from the safety valve. Ensure the steam jet is oriented away from the user and any bystanders during use.
- Children: Keep the coffee maker away from children during use and while it is cooling.
- Intended Use: This coffee maker is designed solely for making coffee. Do not use it for other purposes.
- Water Level: Never fill the lower chamber with water above the safety valve level.
- Ground Coffee Only: Use only ground coffee. Do not use instant coffee, coffee extracts, or infusions, as these can clog the filter and cause pressure buildup.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your coffee maker, consider the following:
- Coffee Not Brewing:
- Ensure the coffee maker is tightly screwed together.
- Check if there is enough water in the lower chamber.
- Verify that the heat source is adequate and the coffee maker is properly placed on it (especially for induction).
- Ensure coffee grounds are not packed too tightly, which can restrict water flow.
- Leaking:
- Confirm the upper and lower chambers are screwed together securely.
- Inspect the silicone gasket for damage or improper seating. Replace if worn.
- Weak Coffee:
- Use a finer grind of coffee.
- Ensure the coffee chamber is adequately filled.
- Avoid using excessive heat, which can cause water to pass through too quickly.
- Bitter Coffee:
- Use a coarser grind of coffee.
- Reduce the heat to prevent over-extraction.
- Remove the coffee maker from heat immediately after brewing is complete.
