4. Installation Guide
This gate is designed for wall-mounted installation. Tools required: Drill, screwdriver, pencil, measuring tape, spirit level.
- Measure and Mark: Determine the desired location for the gate. Ensure the opening width is between 63.5 cm and 106 cm. Use a pencil and measuring tape to mark the positions for the four wall mounting brackets. Ensure the marks are level and at the correct height (approximately 73 cm from the floor).
- Drill Pilot Holes: Using an appropriate drill bit for your wall type, drill pilot holes at the marked positions. Insert the wall plugs into the drilled holes.
- Attach Wall Brackets: Secure the four wall mounting brackets to the wall using the provided screws. Ensure they are firmly attached and level.
- Attach Gate to Brackets: Align the gate's hinge pins with the top and bottom wall brackets on one side. Slide the gate onto the pins.
- Adjust Gate Width: Extend or retract the gate panels to fit snugly between the wall brackets on the opposite side. Secure the gate's latch mechanism to the remaining wall brackets.
- Test Security: Once installed, firmly push and pull on the gate to ensure it is securely mounted and does not move. Check that the latch mechanism engages properly.

5. Operating Instructions
The Munchkin Wooden Extendable Safety Gate features a tilt and lift mechanism for adult-friendly, one-handed operation.
- To Open: Locate the latch handle. Tilt the handle upwards, then lift the gate panel slightly to disengage the latch from the wall bracket. Swing the gate open in the desired direction.
- To Close: Swing the gate panel back into the closed position. Ensure the latch mechanism aligns with the wall bracket and gently push down until it clicks securely into place. Always verify the gate is properly latched.

6. Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Wipe the gate with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these may damage the wood finish.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect all parts for wear, damage, or loose fittings. Pay close attention to hinges, latches, and wall mounts.
- Tightening: Periodically check and tighten all screws and fasteners to ensure the gate remains secure.
- Wood Care: If the wood appears dry, a non-toxic wood conditioner or polish can be applied sparingly.
7. Troubleshooting
- Gate does not latch securely:
Solution: Check if the wall brackets are aligned correctly. The gate may need slight adjustment in width or the brackets may need repositioning. Ensure no obstructions prevent the latch from engaging fully. - Gate feels loose or wobbly:
Solution: Re-check all mounting screws and ensure they are tightened. Verify that the wall plugs are securely seated in the wall. If the wall material is soft, consider using stronger anchors. - Difficulty opening/closing the gate:
Solution: Ensure the tilt and lift mechanism is being operated correctly. Check for any debris or damage around the latch or hinges. A small amount of silicone spray on the moving parts may help, but avoid contact with children.
